Assistant Buyer (Maternity cover) FTC

Home Based with travel to head office weekly (Malmesbury nr Swindon)

Salary: GBP19000

Tandem Talent is proud to be working with an exciting, people focused retail company who are based on the outskirts of Malmesbury. Due to a period of sustained growth, they are looking for a new Assistant Buyer (Womens Clothing) to join their buying team. This role will involve some international travel.

The main purpose of the role is to support the buyers in delivering a balanced, commercial, compelling and well-planned product range to present to their customers which reflects the integrity of the company's 3 retail brands.

Key Responsibilities include but not limited to

*

Support the buyers with day-to-day functions.

*

Manage the critical path.

*

To plan and select a commercial range of products for specific brands/categories, meeting the company's objectives under the guidance of the buyer.

*

Negotiate with suppliers to ensure the best price and margin for the product.

*

Monitor, report and react to product sales performance.

*

Continually assess product ranges from key competitors.

*

Updating master range lists in Excel

*

Creation of PowerPoint presentations to show brand selections & buy overviews

*

Work closely with other teams in the business, including merchandising, visual merchandising and marketing.

*

Support the buyers at regular range reviews to senior management.

*

Analysing trends.

*

Manage competitor analysis.

*

Seasonal photo shoot preparation and participation.

*

Manage the sample library, calling in & sending back samples to suppliers

*

Manage product labelling process with brands & internally

*

Manage sustainability features by brand

Planning

*

Work closely with the buyers to deliver profitable departments.

*

Support in the planning & presentations of the seasonal review and analysis with the buyer on the previous season and capture lessons learned.

*

Support in presentations for sign off meetings and the seasonal review process to key stakeholders.

*

Work closely with marketing, visual merchandising and Omni Channel to generate and communicate key product direction.

*

Work with online team to optimise the website.

*

Work with buyer to review weekly trading performance against KPI's and address issues

The ideal candidate will have previous experience working within buying, ideally as an assistant buyer within retail. You will be an excellent communicator and will be able to commute to head office when required
