We have an excellent opportunity for a part-time Development & Events Coordinator to join one of the largest and oldest Friendly Societies in the UK in Surrey / Hampshire.
Please note: This is a part-time, home based role. To be successful in your application, it is essential you have your own transport and a full driving licence.
The Company
Our clients' aim is to improve the quality of life for their members through active social involvement, care support and a range of financial benefits and services to members in the West Surrey and North East Hampshire area. There are currently social groups meeting in Farnham, Camberley, and Woking, but the aim is to create more social groups in areas such as Fleet, Alton and Basingstoke.
The Role
As Development & Events Coordinator, you will help and support in delivering the social element of the Society to its target market (predominantly 50+), whilst bringing in new members, marketing and promoting the organisation, supporting volunteering and helping our client to grow.
In this role you will focus on developing membership, volunteering and the social offering of the branch.
Your responsibilities will include:
• Creating and developing social activities to increase membership
• Supporting and developing recruitment initiatives and market to potential members
• Promoting events in the local area
• Developing active involvement of members
• Building relationships with the local community
About You
We are looking for a Development & Events Coordinator who is friendly, outgoing and organised, with an ability to work to deadlines and without close supervision, delivering on measurable targets.
You must have or be:
• A peoples' person with excellent communication skills
• Able to speak confidently in front of groups of people
• Patient and diplomatic
• Able to negotiate, persuade, organise, plan and manage your own time
• Computer literate
• A full driving licence and own transport
Hours
The role of Development & Events Coordinator is a part-time, home-based position. You will be expected to work on your own initiative for an average of 14 hours per week (although this could be increased to 16 hours per week after probationary period).
The hours worked will be flexible and will involve working weekdays daytime and evening, as well as weekend work according to the schedule of the Branch Events Diary, which you will be helping to schedule and compile.

Rewards
As Development & Events Coordinator, you will receive a salary of up to GBP12.50/hour, dependent on experience, plus expenses. This post is subject to a 6-month probationary period.
