White Label are partnered with an engineering business in Sheffield who are looking to recruit a Mechanical Design Engineer.
In this role you are responsible for developing products from concept, through design, manufacturing, and support to end of life with the end goal of delivering cost-effective product solutions, that exceed the needs of our end users. Candidates need to be solutions oriented, a creative problem-solver, and able to work collaboratively as a team player in a fast-paced environment.
Main Duties and Tasks
* Form part of the in-house design engineering design team working on consumer goods.
* Work alongside in-house design and external design agencies developing well thought out and appropriate engineering solutions from the ground up using Solidworks.
* Plan and implement design engineering activities considering design time, prototyping, and testing.
* Develop a keen knowledge of competitor products including evaluation and reporting on your findings from test work.
* Liaising and communicating with our Chinese manufactures.
* Design, manage and implement product quality and design improvements on existing products. In addition, seek out developments in technology likely to enable improvements in the cost/performance of products.
* Management of data and drawings control in Solidworks PDM.
Requirements
* Qualified to degree level in Mechanical Engineering/Product Design.
* Solidworks experience is essential.
* 5 years + mechanical engineering experience.
* To be commercially aware and have a concern for cost, accuracy and possess a strong awareness of design for value and product quality.
* Proven ability in product development from concept through to production ready design.
* Agile and able to work in a fast-paced environment.
