Victim Support is looking for a Children & Young people's Domestic Abuse Case Worker based in Wakefield, covering West Yorkshire.This is a fixed term contract until March 2023.Victim Support (VS) is an independent charity providing a range of specialist services to people who have been affected by crime across England and Wales. The Service provides support to victims of all types of crime, aged 4 upwards, and has specialist Case Workers. This role is to offer and provide, where that offer is accepted, tailored one-to-one support to Children and Young People who have experienced Domestic Abuse. This will include the provision of wraparound support to help service users cope and recover and will involve multiagency working where appropriate to address complex needs. The post holder will assist those victims in ensuring they receive the support required to complete their journey through the criminal justice system where appropriate and access additional support services. You will deliver front line support and advocacy to Children and Young Victims within West Yorkshire, that have been effected by Domestic Abuse. You will contact clients referred to the service to offer support, conduct risk assessments, referring to other agencies as appropriate, as well as managing a caseload of children and young people providing a range of support to manage feelings and emotions, safety plan, develop coping strategies, and build resilience. You will work in partnership with local agencies specialising in Domestic Abuse, whose services victims may require, such as schools, children's social services and health providers to develop child centred tailored support plans and ensure delivery against these plans through regular monitoring and feedback. You will have experience of direct service delivery to Children and Young People, multi-agency working, undertaking risk assessments and safety planning with children and young people, who have been effected by Domestic Abuse. You will have comprehensive knowledge of the impact of crime and traumatic events on child victims and their families as well as the role of statutory agencies including the criminal justice system. You will be organised and be able to manage a demanding caseload with changing priorities and will be able to work well independently and as part of a team. You will have a supportive and empathetic approach to service users who are often in distressing situations. Successful candidates will be subject to an enhanced DBS check and Police Vetting.
