Urban Logistics UK Ltd have an exciting opportunity for a Customs Specialist to join their team in Basingstoke.
Salary: Dependant on experience
Location: Basingstoke, Hampshire
Job Type: Permanent, Full time, office based
Hours: ours 08:00 -17:00 Monday to Friday
Customs Specialist - The Role:
This is an exciting opportunity to join a multinational in-house transportation operation. The primary role is ensuring products and components are imported into or exported out of the UK in strict compliance with all applicable import and export laws and regulations, in the most cost and time efficient manner, minimizing associated duties/taxes and carriage costs.
Customs Specialist - Responsibilities:
- Ensure the timely and accurate completion of all Import & Export customs, procedures, Tariff Classifications, Duty Rates, and any other documentation requirements
- Processing Import/Export customs declarations
- Keeping up to date with changes in regulations, laws and customs procedures
- An extensive knowledge of Customs Commodity Codes would a great advantage
- Ensure all Customer needs are met or exceeded, within our Compliance Controls
- All other duties related to the process of clearing freight / shipments through customs
- Management of full shipping process would be an advantage
Customs Specialist - Requirements:
- Proficiency in UK / EU Customs regulations
- Excellent working knowledge of import and export customs procedures, primarily road freight
- Proven commercial background
- Strong IT skills
Customs Specialist - You:
- Excellent attention to detail with high levels of accuracy
- Great team player
Highly adaptable and able to work under pressurised situations
- Can prioritise tasks
- Must be commercially aware
- Must be proactive and show initiative
- Ability to build positive working relations with customers, suppliers, and colleagues
Excellent communication skills - with the ability to adapt their style and language (verbal and written) to suit the customer, department, or level that they are dealing with
Experience of using Sequoia Customs Software is desirable
