Job Title: Graduate Organic Chemist (Fixed Term)
Location: Middlesbrough
Rate/Salary: Negotiable
Residency: uk

The Role:

***18-month fixed term contract***

Role Objectives:
Is part of a team responsible for the large scale (multi litre) laboratory scale manufacture, including the synthesis of highly toxic materials.

Meets site safety standards and no lost time accidents or major incidents impacting on the site's operation.

Meets regulatory and customer quality requirements relating to ISO9001, ISO14001 and where appropriate, cGMP.

1 year contract

Key Accountabilities:
Ensure that all Health, Safety and Environmental requirements are met including (but not limited to) workplace organisation, work instructions, risk assessments, and control, COSHH assessments, housekeeping standards.

Ensure the instructions for the large scale laboratory synthesis and associated safety protocols are rigorously followed.

Ensure the process documentation (lab batch card) is completed accurately and in a timely manner

Ensure that the laboratory working area is maintained in a safe and tidy fashion, ensure audits are up to date and participate proactively in Department Safety Meetings as well as safety observation program

Be responsible for day to day planning of own work as required to meet process timelines

Prepare for and participate as required in technical meetings with customers to provide updates on the manufacturing progress.

Key Performance Indicators
Adherence to safety and processing instructions
Adherence to manufacturing schedule as agreed with Senior Chemist or Group Leader.
Proactive participation in safety related systems - for example, safety meetings, safety observations.
Lab audit completion and action close out.
Minimising accidents and incidents in the laboratory

Education/Qualification Required
Essential:
HNC or equivalent in chemistry
Experience of laboratory operations in an industrial environment (1 year minimum)

Desirable:
