ChildLine Supervisor

Every childhood is worth fighting for. This is our belief. It drives us. And it's the reason our Childline team push themselves to transform the lives of children, making a difference to every young person who contacts us. Join us as a Childline Supervisor and make a contribution that means everything.

You will be joining our small, skilled and high performing Childline Leeds team to deliver online listening services to children and young people. This role is crucial to the service, with responsibility for making sure young people experience a high quality service, and that they are answered. You will manage a team of up to 25 volunteers, working regular late evenings and weekends on a shift rota. You will be involved in the ongoing development of the Childline service and training volunteers.

The ideal candidate will be passionate about delivering the best outcomes for children. Candidates should be educated to a standard that reflects the ability to research ideas, think analytically and articulate recommendations and as a minimum hold a relevant certificate level qualification or an NVQ 3 or 4. As a Supervisor you will be responsible for the day to day delivery of a safe and effective helpline service for children and young people through volunteers. You will have the ability to provide effective supervision to volunteers including feedback, training and support where needed and ensuring that a quality response is given to every child or young person who contacts ChildLine.

Your communication skills will be crucial to all elements of the role. You will be an empathic listener. We're looking for a proactive person, who is willing to push themselves and others to make a difference for children. You will be open to change and prepared to embrace developments for the service. You will have experience of working with children and young people in a relevant setting. You will have the proven ability to engage with children and young people as well as up to date knowledge of child protection systems, best practice, research and legislation and the ability to make child protection risk assessments.

Join us and you'll become part of a team that cares about the work they do and the people they work with. You'll discover opportunities to grow, along with challenges and a shared purpose that'll bring the best out in you. And you'll get to find your own way to make a difference that means more, and that impacts millions of young lives.
