An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Plumber / Gas Engineer to join the Estates and Development Directorate. The post holder will assist with the installation, operation, maintenance, fault finding, , testing, repair and modification of domestic and commercial water installations, natural gas fired boilers, water heater and distribution systems and installations, internal and external drainage installations, rain water collection and disposal systems, providing the highest level of customer service across the University’s estate.

 

The successful candidate will hold some Domestic and/or Commercial Gas qualifications (e.g. CCN1, CPA1, CENWAT, CKR1, HTR1, MET1 and CODNCO1, CDGA1, ICPN1, CIGA1) and be willing to complete others as required. Substantial post qualification experience is essential, along with excellent organisation, planning, communication, customer service and interpersonal skills, and the ability to work well within a team.

 

The postholder will have access to a range of facilities on campus including shops, food and drink outlets and a Sports Centre, with staff discount available in some areas.  As well as an excellent benefits package (including pension scheme and 21 days annual leave plus discretionary days and public holidays), you will receive a full induction and support to enhance your skills within the role.

 

This is a full-time position. Typical hours of work are 38.5 per week Monday – Friday, however occasional out of hours & weekend working may be required, and the successful candidate is expected to participate in an on call- 52 weeks rota system.
