A highly professional organisation in the Oldbury area are seeking a Purchasing Manager.
This is a full time permanent position where you will be required to purchase steel, general consumables across the site and have overall responsibility for the General Stores.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Build and maintain positive trust relationships with key suppliers and vendors
2. Request prices from steel suppliers for new or existing business and present findings to the relevant Division
3. Purchase steel of the right quality at the most competitive prices, so as to maximise production opportunities and to ensure purchase contracts are clearly articulated with regard to pricing/quality/delivery/tonnage/claims
4. Review steel orders / consumables with suppliers on a weekly / monthly basis and report findings back to the relevant Division
5. Keep internal customers informed of steel delivery status and advise of any delays/shortages/quality issues
6. Produce weekly and monthly spend reports on steel and consumables
7. Carry out monthly reporting of cost savings and be part of the CIP programme
8. Carry out market analysis to determine future steel availability
9. Direct and supervise the activities of the Purchasing Coordinator and Stores Supervisor
10. Development of new suppliers in all areas of Purchasing
11. Development of an IT system in the Stores, for a better vision of stocks, cost and usages
12. Review stock levels and report of stocks in the Stores on a monthly basis
13. Perform any other ad hoc tasks assigned by the Operations Director
14. Visit suppliers to discuss and review supply performance, quality and report this back to the relevant departments
Candidates welcome to apply for the role will have the following:
Ideally have 5 years' or more experience of working in a similar purchasing role / function within a production / manufacturing environment
Have minimum Level 4 CIPS qualification would be advantageous
Have a broad understanding of current manufacturing methods
Have excellent communication and negotiation skills
Have a flexible approach to work and ability to adapt to change
Be well organised, professional and able to work under pressure
Be responsible for achieving objectives on own initiative, as well as part of a team
Be computer literate
Be able to prioritise workload, meet deadlines and pay attention to detail
Must be eligible to work in the UK and possess a full UK Driving Licence
