Adopting a partnering approach from the outset, we work collaboratively with both our clients and project stakeholders to develop optimal solutions that provide best value through reduced risk and efficient delivery.

We are looking to recruit a Senior Quantity Surveyor based on the A1 corridor between Grantham and Doncaster. This role will be working within Working within nmcn's Infrastructure Business Unit, and forming a part of the Commercial team, the Senior Quantity Surveyor plays an integral part in delivering exceptional commercial results. Core responsibilities encompass project delivery, commercial reporting and maximising profit.With sustainable growth in mind, our Senior Quantity Surveyor is responsible for developing and maintaining excellent relationships with Clients, successful management of key supply chain partners and accurate project reporting.

What you'll be doing day to day

  • Review weekly cost to complete/budget reviews with the contract delivery teams
  • To ensure draft/outline CTC's are completed via communication with Project Managers
  • Maintaining deadlines in line with the monthly commercial calendar
  • Attend internal and external commercial review meetings
  • Ensure commercial challenge at all times to contract delivery teams
  • Assist in the production and development of contract programmes and strategy
  • Upload documentation as and when necessary in line with business requirements
  • Review weekly site records including allocation sheets and site diaries - providing feedback and advice where appropriate
  • Attend project handover meetings
  • Negotiating with suppliers and subcontractors
  • Attend site progress meetings
  • Produce management information required and take responsibility for the accuracy of information (Provisions, Cash flows, Applications, etc)
  • Manage Risk Registers identifying project risks, opportunities and value engineering opportunities
  • Work in conjunction with the contract delivery teams to ensure the budgets are not exceeded
  • Management of commercial aspects with the client including Compensation Events/Variations, Extension of Time and Completion request etc
  • Ensure that the contract delivery team are briefed and have sufficient commercial support to monitor and react to budget variances
  • Maximising value and minimising cost, ensuring that appropriate controls are in place to monitor and manage the operating cost base
  • Ensuring that cash flow is maximised including ensuring that payments are received on time
  • Preparation of monthly financial performance reports
  • Advising contract delivery teams to manage project performance
  • Assessing main contract terms and conditions and ensuring they are reflected appropriately in any engagements with the Supply Chain
  • Manage the commercial aspects of subcontract accounts from procurement to interim and final account agreement
  • Preparation of and the evaluation and submission of claims from Subcontractors for Compensation Events/Variations
  • Final account negotiation achieving the best possible outcomes

The experience we're looking for in a candidate

  • Commercial and contractual awareness
  • A good level of competency of Microsoft packages
  • The ability to anticipate problems and ensure early intervention
  • Degree qualified in Quantity Surveying / Commercial Management would be advantageous
