Job Summary

Our newly formed UK Procurement and Supplier Governance team will proactively engage with the business to drive strategy in line with corporate objectives. The changing regulatory environment and focus means that the role will be responsible for all of Canada Life's operational resilience assessments and impact tolerances are embedded into relevant business processes and include where applicable key 3rd party suppliers impacts. The business is going through a period of strategic change as it removes legacy systems and works towards a digital transformation (eg. Cloud). During the next two years this will be a dynamic role with a continuously changing landscape.

The Business Resilience Manager is to design, implement, test and maintain Canada Life's business resilience program across the UK and IoM. The role will be a subject matter expert and will be integral in ensuring that the company's operational arrangements are developed and implemented in a robust, prioritised and structured manner, providing transparency and ensuring the commitments of the Canada Life Exec team across the business. The role will support all business plan activities necessary to enable Canada Life to manage a crisis event across the UK sites and functions to meet compliance requirements for BCP planning. The role will include regular third party business continuity assessment of critical outsourced suppliers to ensure operational resilience that would otherwise impact our customers.

This role is expected to bring together and ensure consistency and alignment across all individual functions business continuity and disaster recovery plans.

What you'll do

• A subject matter expert that promotes the importance of business continuity planning and operational resilience with the CLUK senior stakeholder community
• Responsible for annual assessment of Important Business Services across all Company Entities and embed operational resilience responsibilities to meet PRA regulations
• To lead by coaching and influencing the importance of business operational resilience across all business areas and ensuring buy in and on time delivery with senior colleagues who are operating outside the Procurement team structure
• To provide regular reporting to the CLUK Exec and Board Committees and other senior business stakeholders embedding the business resilience agenda and routine reporting (to cover tolerances, testing and action planning)
• To lead on policy strategy and development based on innovative thinking for defined problems.
• To undertake a Business Impact Analysis (BIA) of the business operations to establish Business Continuity (BC) strategy including key risks and the impacts affecting business operations
• Facilitate and provide concise reports to summarise testing activities, including descriptions of goals, planning, scheduling, execution, results, analysis, conclusions, and recommendations (including action plans).
• Assist with coordinating the Group's response to a disruptive event or incident.
• To review Third Party supplier disaster recovery arrangements requirements
• To meet identified audit requirements
• To liaise and perform regular reviews with internal and external stakeholders

Desired Skills/Experience

• Extensive experience in a Business Continuity/Operational Resilience role and Crisis Management at a senior level
• Educated to degree level or equivalent
• Good experience in facilitating meetings and workshops at operational and senior management level
• Strong knowledge in the production of formal policy/procedural type documentation
• A sound understanding of business operating models within a financial services/insurance company
• Experience of planning BC rehearsals and testing activities
• Strong communication skills (written and verbal)
• Strong interpersonal skills
• Advanced user of MS Word / Excel / Powerpoint / Visio
