Communications Manager

Location: London

Permanent - 37 hours per week, Monday to Friday

Salary: GBP40,000 - GBP45,000 + excellent benefits

Here at Serco we're experts in designing, implementing, and managing waste and recycling services, and right now we're recruiting for a Communications Manager for our London based depot. We provide a complete grounds maintenance, street cleansing and waste and recycling collection service, striving to minimise waste and maximise participation in recycling.

Reporting to the Regional Director you will be responsible for building relationships and influencing thinkng at all levels within client organisations and providing high quality internal and external communications and campaigns to support the London Region Environmental Services contract and Local Authority (LA) partners.

This will include leading the design, delivery and evaluation of service and behavioural change campaigns for our LA partners, managing all external communication activities, producing reports and presentations for the Regional Director and Contract Managers to facilitate meetings and working closely with the London region contracts to deliver their internal and ad hoc communications.

You will develop and maintain a network of relationships with a range of stakeholders that enables the successful creation and delivery of bespoke communication strategies, plans and concepts for each LA partner using an EAST framework or similar, and provide innovative environmentally focussed community engagement initiatives.

The role will require continuous assessment of communication tools and channels to identify and implement innovative and creative forms of communications and content that will appeal to new and changing target markets, as well as managing a range of suppliers and partners to ensure the successful delivery of events and campaigns, such as large service change projects, to include graphic designers, merchandise companies, venues, caterers, etc, whilst managing the budget and timescales.

This is a vital role in which you will represent Serco to customers, stakeholders, community organisations and the public, fostering a partnership approach to your relationships. Included in this will be developing opportunities and relationships with journalists to promote the features and publish campaign successes in local and trade publications

There will be travel required around the Environmental Services sites in the region, so you will need a full, clean driving licence.

About you

First and foremost, you'll need to be an experienced Communications Manager with experience in campaign management and delivery, with a good understanding of marketing communication processes (design, print, social media, etc) and a demonstrable track record of implementing new ideas in terms of communication tools and channels including measures of success.

You should be familiar with, and a regular user of, new technology and social media and be proficient in the use of MS Word, PowerPoint and Exel. You should also have a good understanding and experience of utilising social media platforms such as Twitter, Facebook and iPhone apps.

We are keen to hear from candidates with a creative vision, strong communication and interpersonal skills and good writing skills for developing text for marketing collateral.
