My client is the worlds number one cosmetic packaging supplier and they manufacture the packaging and beuty solutions that you use every day. They employ over 10,000 people across 31 sites Globally and had over $1 billion in sales across 2020.

Due to continued expansion they are now expanding their Printing Department and as a result are seeking and experienced Print Technician to join the team.

Reporting into the GAP Leader you will be responsible for the safe & efficient running of equipment to targeted outputs, whilst ensuring quality standards are met. You will ensure presses have adequate raw materials, complete all Line Clearances and Pass Offs whilst keeping the press and surrounding areas clean and tidy in line with departmental 5S standards. You will also resolve technical and quality matters with the support of the Gap Leader.

Your key tasks and responsibilities for this role are as follows:

Health and Safety:

• Observing all safety, environmental and cardinal' rules and agreed working procedures at all times.
• Carry out all prescribed safety checks using the correct format and assist in resolving any safety issues that may arise from these checks or during everyday activities.
• Wear safety equipment and protective clothing when requested to do so by the company representative, whether that be a GAP Leader, Manager, Supervisor, Technician or any other person who is nominated by the Company to act in the capacity of the person responsible for others' work activities, in accordance with company policy.
• Report immediately any accidents/incidents, near misses, environmental contamination or damage to plant, production machinery, equipment and buildings in their area, whether an injury was sustained or not.
• Report immediately of any non-work related injuries/illness that can become aggravated whilst at work.
• Participate in improving health, safety and environmental standards within the Company by making suggestions on any aspect of work that in their opinion may improve working conditions and reduce accident potential or environmental impact concerning any aspect of the manufacturing activity.
• Comply with the Company Health, Safety and Environmental Policy document together with the organisational arrangements for implementing the commitment referred to in the policy.
• Attend training sessions and courses on health, safety, environmental and fire precautionary arrangements.

Quality Standards:

• Adherence to and understanding of cGMP standards
• Ensure Dress and Personal Hygiene codes are maintained.
• Comply with company quality procedures
• Ensure all documentation and labels are correct from receipt through production process
• Ensure that all materials and products are correctly identified.
• Carry out visual quality checks as part of the in process control procedures.
• Alert GAP Leader, Senior Team Leader and Production Supervisor of any product defects.
• Ensure that any faults found, or where product is outside technical specifications, that machinery is stopped, and fault rectified. Before production can commence a deviation is completed and all containment is completed.
• Keep work area in a clean and tidy condition maintaining high standards of quality and segregation.
• Ensure all product samples, IPC checks and special requirements are completed in accordance with company procedures and customer specifications.

Press Operating:

• Responsible for ensuring the correct Web, Inks, Foil and Varnishes are used.
• Responsible for using the AVT system in line with training procedures for all production orders.
• Using the Rhombus System correctly ensuring information is entered correctly including the use of raw material and set up web.
• Ability to operate Print equipment and contribute towards the achievement of required outputs, productivity, quality and customer standards.
• Responding for spotting machine issues quickly to minimise scrap or product defects.
• Carrying out line clearance inspection in accordance with Company Procedures
• Reporting all machinery and tooling faults.
• Completing changeovers following Company Procedures.
• Completing Pass offs in line with training procedures.
• Carrying out Shift hand over in accordance with Company Procedures
• Supporting company objectives to meet scrap targets by alerting the Gap leader/ Senior Team leader / Production Supervisor immediately to any quality issues.
• Keeping work area in a clean & tidy condition maintaining high standards of housekeeping in line with Departmental 5'S standards.
• Adopting a flexible approach, operating equipment, moving materials and carrying out other duties when cover is required.

Pre-Press/Other Duties:

• Completing Safety checks at the beginning of every shift.
• Ability to lay printing plates for the Arpeco's and the Gallus in line with training procedures.
• Supplying Raw web to the presses and removing any printed web in a timely fashion to not cause any downtime.
• Ordering new plates when needed as of the procedure
• Using SAP correctly to produce Job specs and ordering Raw web
• Printing Artworks to complete the job packs
• To support other departments as required

• Awareness of changes to equipment & procedures
• Awareness of own training requirements for progression
• Liaise with Gap leader to ensure own training is progressed

The ideal candidate for this position will possess the following skills and experience:

• The ability to be trained in other tasks in order to maintain flexibility

• Ability to tell the difference between colours is critical (not colour blind).

It would also be highly advantageous if you had the following:

• Have the ability to understand basic computer use.
• Have previous experience of working in a controlled manufacturing environment, preferably involving good standards of hygiene & housekeeping
• Have experience or knowledge of Quality Control activities and procedures
• Have experience or knowledge of cGMP and ISO 9001
• English and Maths ability to GCSE C' grade or equivalent

This is a full time, permanent position. you would be working on a 5 shift matrix (3 nights-3 off-3 days-6 off) with the working hours being 7:45am-8pm / 7:45pm-8am. This is for an ASAP start and the position also offers excellent opportunities for progression over time due to the company having a policy of promotion from within.
