Job Title: Finance Assistant or Accounts Assistant
Location: Tyne and Wear
Salary: GBP22,000k p to GBP24,000k base plus Discretionary Bonus plus pension
The Client:
A well-established Manufacturing organisation and part of a larger Group in Gateshead.
This role is to replace a current incumbent who is progressing into another part of the business. This is an exciting time to join an award-winning company backed by a Global organisation.
If you are keen to make a genuine difference and would like to work in a small finance team, then on-boarding at this exciting time means you will work directly with the Financial Controller helping to steer the company towards its overall goals.
The Opportunity:
Primarily you will work with the Financial Controller in a role which is 60% transactional and 40% reporting. There also will be the opportunity to identify improvements and use your own initiative.
Some of the key responsibilities for this successful individual would be, but no limited to:
* To ensure the accuracy of the company's purchase ledger
* Maintain good communications with suppliers
* To support the Financial Controller on the day-to-day running of the finance department
* Process supplier invoices and ensuring that the 3-way match carried out (PO numbers and Goods in)
* Prepare supplier account reconciliation to statements and investigate any differences.
* Assist in resolving any purchase ledger queries
* Monthly Supplier payment runs
* Weekly Sales Stats reports
* Month-end Bank Reconciliations
* Process Employee Expense reports
* Vat returns
* Month end close - reporting
* Assist in Yearly stock take & Statutory Audit preparation
* Opportunity to identify improvements
The Candidate:
The successful Finance Assistant will be/have:
* 2 - 5 years experienced as Finance Assistant or Accounts Assistant.
* Ideally AAT qualified or studying towards this, but not essential.
* We will also consider a qualified by experience person who has the right blend of experience.
* You will be comfortable with purchase ledger, sales ledger, month end, bank reconciliation.
* Great if within a fast-moving manufacturing environment, although we are OPEN on industry.
* Basic knowledge of the local legislation re. VAT. Or covered in your studies.
* You will have excellent English speaking skills.
* Experience using Microsoft Excel at intermediate level.
* Experience using Sage 200 is a preference, but there is flexibility around this.
* You are a good team player with excellent communication skills.
