Bristol, but very flexible working!

My client is looking for a Network Team Manager to lead members of the team responsible for administration and management of the organisation's core network services.

You will proactively manage a team of technical experts with diverse workload from operational activity, service requests, incidents, and change activity from work requests or projects. Your team will coordinate activity at all levels across the infrastructure stack, from fibre cabling through to applications, administering, running and troubleshoot existing services, planning extensive change activities, and supporting projects which underpin our business, academic and research aims.

It will be important to have a strong security focus, as you will be involved network-related security activities and will assist in responding to security events.

You will champion IT Service Management best practices within the team and department, adhering to, and demonstrating the value of, mature policies and procedures.

You will be responsible for lifecycle management of network services including normal operational running, administering, troubleshooting and maintenance. As such you will hold the Technical Service Manager role for a number of key network and Data Centre services. You will administer and maintain your services according to departmental policies, procedures and technical best practices. You will manage budgetary spend and suppliers as required for maintenance and operation of your services.

You will need to be highly organised and motivated with demonstrable experience of large scale IT operations and infrastructure, preferably within a management framework such as ITIL.

You will be very analytical and have excellent troubleshooting and diagnostic skills to work with your team members and with support partners to lead root cause analysis of technical problems and manage the resolution of technical faults.

The ability to work with colleagues dynamically across multiple teams will be required and you should have a proven track record of prioritising and balancing workload between multiple competing demands. You will have strong communicating and influencing skills, and the ability to communicate effectively with all stakeholders with differing levels of technical understanding
