Manchester, Greater Manchester (with travel across Greater Manchester)

Nationally significant and focused on a fair and equal society, our client is a charity supporting the needs of people who identify as lesbian, gay, bisexual and trans.

Serving tens of thousands of people each and every year, they also provide information to individuals online and help all LGBT people to achieve their full potential.

Their domestic abuse programme currently offers a high level of support to victims and survivors of domestic abuse across Greater Manchester. The support on offer is not only for those currently experiencing domestic abuse but also for those who have previously experienced this. The current support offer includes the provision of a holistic assessment, safety and support planning, 1:1 casework sessions, group work sessions, housing advice, and housing support.

As the needs of the LGBT community continue to grow, so do our client's services. They are now looking for an Independent Domestic Violence Advisor to join their team in Manchester for a fixed term contract until the 31st March 2022 (with the possibility of extension).

The Role

As an IDVA, you will be tasked with delivering our client's support programme to high-risk victims and survivors of domestic abuse.

Specifically, you will provide high-quality assessments, offering safety and support planning as well as acting as an advocate for high, medium and standard risk victims. Managing a caseload of clients across Greater Manchester, you will work within a multi-agency partnership structure to ensure victim's needs are met.

Your role will also involve:

- Participating in MARACs
- Carrying out periodic case reviews
- Using and updating monitoring systems and informing reports
- Providing safeguarding support for those delivering front line services

About You

To be considered as an IDVA, you will need:

- Experience of delivering support to individuals who are experiencing domestic abuse, including delivering high-quality assessments and safety plans
- Experience of working with adults and/or children who are at risk
- Experience of managing a caseload within a fast-paced frontline delivery service
- Experience of working in multi-agency settings
- An understanding of LGBT communities and the issues they face
- A driving licence and access to a vehicle
- A Safe Lives/CAADA IDVA training certificate, a relevant degree or vocational qualification, OR demonstrable equivalent experience

Experience of supporting LGBT victims and survivors of domestic abuse would be beneficial to your application. Experience of using SharePoint would also be an advantage.
