Job description

I am looking for a new team member to join a busy despatch / goods out department for my client in Pudsey to start as soon as possible.

As a Despatch / Goods Out Operator you will be expected to;

* Carry out despatch operations efficiently with the minimum of supervision
* Maintain a high degree of accuracy during the picking and packing process
* Contribute to maintaining a safe and healthy workplace and keep secure
* Complete all picking and packing operations as required.
* Ensure all products handled in accordance with relevant quality, environment and health and safety procedures and fulfilling customer requirements.
* Maintain operational systems to achieve a "right first time" culture.
* Have the ability to work carefully and follow instructions
* Have the ability to concentrate during periods of repetitive work
* Have quick reactions to deal with immediate problems
* Have an understanding of health and safety requirements
* Be able to identify substandard or defective products and reporting these to the Team Leader or QC team.

Back of House Duties expected are;

* To operate and maintain with effectiveness all despatch equipment.
* Achieve the despatch targets set for the department on a daily/weekly basis.
* Work to defined operating standards and procedures.
* Maintain accurate records of despatch and any other operational data as requested.
* Clean down equipment and carrying out minor maintenance work.
* Monitor the integrity of the equipment for all aspects of safety and performance and instigating remedial action.

You the candidate must;

* Have valid FLT licenses for Counterbalance and Reach trucks.
* Good general level of education, GCSE in Maths and English and a science qualification would be advantageous though not compulsory
* A good level of fitness
* Good communication skills
* Good team-working skills
* Able to develop own competencies in line with own job, regulation and legislation.
* Able to develop and support individuals and teams as required.
* Must be flexible i.e. can work with changes in start / finish times and work weekend overtime as requested (occasionally 1 - 2 times per month)
* Understand and use in-house computer programmes and utilise the current reporting system.

Basic gross salary
GBP20,000 per annum to be paid monthly on the 25th day of each month (or the nearest working day before the 25th). There will be a review of the individuals capability, attendance and attitude after a 6 month probationary period.

Hours of work
40 hours per week, worked between 7.00 am and 7pm Monday to Friday, with a 30 minute paid lunch-break to be taken to suit the business requirements. Additional break time can be taken as unpaid time but must be made up as part of the employee's weekly hours.

Paid holiday entitlement
There is an initial total of 20 days holiday per annum and a fixed Christmas shutdown period, these are exclusive of any recognised bank holidays. Payment for annual holiday is accrued according to service during the holiday year.

Pension
You are entitled to join the company stakeholder pension scheme. This is a group personal pension money purchase scheme invested with AEGON Scottish Equitable. The minimum contribution is 4% gross of basic salary (which you receive tax relief on). The company matches the payments up to a maximum of 5%. The percentage of contributions paid by you or the Employer may vary from time to time. You will be auto-enrolled into the pension scheme upon commencement of employment.

Death in service benefit
A Death in Service benefit is provided at 4 x basic salary. Details of the scheme and a beneficiary nomination form will be provided to you in due course.

Healthcare scheme
You will become a member of the healthcare scheme which will entitle you to claim reimbursement up to the benefit levels for dental, optical and other medical expenses. Full details of the scheme will be provided to you in due course.
