The Diocese of Southwark is seeking to make the crucial appointment of Property Operations Manager.

Southwark is a diverse and vibrant Diocese in so many ways, from the energy of the inner city to the beauty of the Surrey Hills. Serving a growing population of 2.8 million people across south London and east Surrey, we are one of the largest Dioceses in the Church of England and incorporate 358 churches.

The Property Services Department of the Diocese of Southwark is responsible for the management of an extensive portfolio of around 400 properties mostly for clergy housing, with some investment properties, and the focus of its work is providing an excellent service to the parishes of the diocese , as clergy are required to live in the housing provided by the diocese. The Property Operations Manager, who will act as the deputy for the Head of Department (Diocesan Surveyor), will oversee the management of processes, systems, data and information management across the Property Services Department, creating a culture of efficiency and customer service within the team.

The appointed candidate will take responsibility for the implementation, improvement and modernisation of the finance, audit, contract management and compliance processes and procedures within the Property Services team. As a senior member of the organisation, the Property Operations Manager will be responsible for a team of two staff, including the repairs helpdesk. The successful candidate will motivate and encourage the team to ensure delivery of the Property Services department's goals whilst also ensuring their continued development and training.

To ensure the effective delivery of the management of the property portfolio, the Property Operations Manager, will co-ordinate the planned maintenance programme, provide projects administration on larger development and refurbishment schemes and oversight of the Repairs Helpdesk.

Stakeholder management skills are also essential to form strong and influential relationships with a range of individuals. Such stakeholders include diocesan staff, contractors and consultants, clergy and partner organisations.

You will be an experienced, senior administration or operations professional, preferably with experience gained in the real estate sector.

Offering a competitive salary within the charity sector, work life balance and the opportunity to have a direct impact on the people within the Diocese.

Closing date for applications is midnight on 11th July 2021
