Young Parents Project Coordinator
12hrs to 15hrs per week
Salary: £23,541 pro rata (pay award pending)
Equivalent to NJC Point 15
(Actual starting salary £7,635 (12hrs) to £9,544 (15hrs))
Starting September 2021
12 to 15 hours per week to be worked flexibly as required. Very occasionally evening or weekend work are required for which time off in lieu is given.
The post is for a maximum of 12 months from 1st September 2021 to end August 2022 (Final year of a 4 year project period).
KEY TASKS
Delivering the services of the Young Parents Project (Target of 12 families per year):
- Coordinate and deliver all Young Parents Project activities which include a mixture of one to one support in parents’ homes or in the community, group sessions, Buddying service, and remote support.
- Conduct Initial Assessments and Reviews, and provide ongoing support with a wide range of issues including housing, income, health, parenting skills, relationships, learning and training etc.
- Support and coordinate Home-Start volunteers to help within the project as necessary.
- Work in partnership with our HCYC partner organisation’s Youth Work Leader to develop bespoke plans to match parent needs and/or support in group sessions to address key areas of need of the current group attendees.
GENERAL TASKS:
Families:
Identify with families any other service/s relevant to their needs from within Home-Start and/or other services available in the District.
Liaise with other agencies as and when appropriate and necessary, including Adult/Children’s Social Care.
Ensure an effective exit strategy for families coming to the end of their period of support.
Ensure support for families is balanced between being purposeful and effective, yet delivered in a way that is acceptable to vulnerable families.
Maintain family files in accordance with HSSL’s requirements.
Volunteers
Occasionally assist with the initial and ongoing training of volunteers within HSSL.
Provide ongoing supervision and support to volunteers within the project in line with Home-Start requirements, and respond to all requests for support in between times.
Maintain volunteer files in accordance with HSSL’s requirements.
Contribute to the Home-Start newsletters as required.
Attend/support at occasional volunteers’ social events.
Staff Team
Work closely with the other Coordinators and Assistant Coordinator.
Work closely with the Charity Development Manager, Finance Manager and Charity Administrator both to provide and seek all required information, including family and volunteer data, budgets, project resource needs and project evaluations/outcomes.
Attend regular staff meetings and any other meetings relevant to the post.
Multi-Agency working
Liaise with relevant agencies to support the needs of parents and children, ensuring effective communication between agencies to promote the safety and wellbeing of children and vulnerable adults.
Attend multi-agency meetings as appropriate and necessary.
Safeguarding
Work to HSSL’s Safeguarding and Promoting the Welfare of Children Code of Conduct.
Work within the Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland’s Children’s Workforce Safeguarding Competency Framework.
Keep an individual Children’s Workforce Safeguarding Competencies Log up-to-date, for discussion and evidencing at staff supervision and Annual Appraisals.
Keep Safeguarding training up-to-date in accordance with Home-Start and Children’s Workforce Safeguarding Competency Framework requirements.
