The successful candidate will join the Geothermal Science team and be responsible for improving and developing applications of geoscience (with a particular focus on data science and analytics) technologies in our geothermal business.
Principal Accountabilities
* Work as part of our team, responsible for delivering high quality data, conceptual and quantitative geothermal geological models, plus interpretations
* Provide expertise on the exploration applications of geothermal geological and geophysical technical analysis
* Participate effectively in wider discussions across CGG with a view to recognising, and where appropriate developing, opportunities to capitalise on CGG's multidisciplinary strengths
* To independently undertake for clients, as required geothermal studies and interpretations.
* Have the ability to troubleshoot complex problems, with the capacity to problem solve both on your own and within the team
* Manage, process and interpret large and complex geoscientific datasets
* Independent research on new concepts
* Preparing abstracts and presentations for international conferences and events
* Attend training and development courses / workshops as deemed necessary
There may also be a requirement to undertake on location work such as in client offices or in other CGG offices. This role will require international travel to some extent, and direct interaction with clients.
The appointed candidate will be experienced in:
* Integrating multidisciplinary data to understand geothermal systems
* GIS mapping and spatial analytics
* Exploration experience in a range of geological settings (Volcanic and sedimentary)
* Data Management & data processing
- Implementation of SQL, Python or R in geoscience projects
- Statistics & data science including machine learning
* Data extraction techniques from a variety of file types, including web-scraping approaches and technologies
* Presenting at conferences and events
* Thermal Modelling
