We are supporting an Oxford based biotech company with their search for an Intellectual Property (IP) Manager.
This role reports directly into the CTO, and it will be your responsibility to help shape research strategies whilst adding value to the business across R&D and Product Development.
Key Responsibilities: IP Manager
Search and analyse patent and non-patent data to find prior art, patents for acquisition or commercialisation opportunities.
Review patents, scientific and other literature, and will assist in the creation of analytic reports covering technology and intellectual property landscapes.
Liaise with patent lawyer to identify desirable data for testing inventive concepts and strengthening patent applications. Lead inventors/scientists in developing plans to deliver such data. Provide support in data analysis and feedback on results.
Prepare SWOT and other strategic analyses on Company patents/families providing an assessment of their value/potential and recommendations on how this can be maximised.
Develop an understanding of Company R&D, IP and business strategies and how they align; demonstrate by taking into account when making proposals/recommendations. A bit about you: IP Manager
Good working knowledge of patent search and analysis tools (including Espacenet, USPTO PAIR, Innovation, Orbit), searching for technical information.
Scientific or Technical Degree (BSc) or relevant experience in technology development: in Chemistry, Engineering, Physics, Materials Science or similar.
Understanding of and experience of working with one or more types of intellectual property rights - as inventor, support role, or manager.
Experience supporting/ leading invention and innovation processes that capture ideas and translate them into intellectual property. We don't believe in the 'perfect' candidate, and would love to discuss this opportunity with you, even if you don't meet all of the criteria
