Nagel Langdons has an exciting opportunity for a Transport Operator to join our team based in Dover. You will be working on a full time, permanent basis working Monday - Friday 09:00 - 18:00 and in return receive a competitive salary of GBP24,500 - GBP26,500 depending on experience.
Ever wondered how Cornish ice cream gets to Glasgow without melting? Well that's what we do at Nagel Langdons. We have 9 depots and over 375 lorries carrying chilled and frozen food all over the country. We're the only company providing a 24-hour service of this kind, and we're very good at it.
The Transport Operator role:
Develops and implements plans for the routing of company drivers and vehicles, ensuring all relevant resources are deployed cost-effectively and efficiently.
What you'll be doing as our Transport Operator:
- Build loads and plan routes efficiently and effectively, taking into account traffic conditions and driver restrictions and requirements
- Regularly review and update plans and communicate with all relevant colleagues, sub-contractors and customers of outcomes and any changes in good time of arrangements being made
- Identify any barriers to plans and takes appropriate action to ensure adequate resources are in place and any issues relating to collection, transportation and delivery of goods are addressed
- Quote prices for movement of loads upon request
- Ensure all company systems are updated accurately and on a timely basis and relevant paperwork is in place
- Work closely with workshop colleagues to ensure resource requirements and service schedules are met
- Provide cover for the Customer Service Team where required
Qualifications and experience we're looking for in our Transport Operator:
- Must have experience in transport planning
- Qualified to Level 3 Supply Chain Operator or equivalent
- Experience of working in a team-based office environment, preferably in a customer-facing role
- IT literate in Microsoft Office packages and have the ability to compile, analyse and interpret relevant data
- Extensive knowledge and application of transport regulations and health and safety procedures
Skills and abilities we're looking for in our Transport Operator:
- Ability to use initiative and to be so organised that key tasks can be completed fully and on time
- Ability to work to fluid targets and deadlines
- Proven verbal and written communication skills
- Proven arithmetic skills
- Should be happy working with a team
- Provide cover for the Customer Service Team as required
