Purchase Ledger Assistant

Banstead (WFH for the time being)

GBP10 - GBP10.50 per hour depending on experience

Temporary Full Time (2 months contract - possibly longer)

Our client is looking for someone who can provide support to the finance department on a Temporary basis.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Work closely with the Assistant Finance Manager and Finance team to ensure that financial information is produced in accordance with finance procedures
  • Open both internal and external post and distribute accordingly and organise the posting of all external mail
  • Organise and distribute all registered invoices to the relevant budget holder
  • Maintain the Purchase Ledger on a daily and monthly basis
  • Reconcile supplier statements to purchase ledger balances
  • Produce the weekly cheques and monthly Bacs run, ensuring all paperwork is authorised and correctly coded and dated etc.
  • Support and assist with the preparation of annual expenditure budgets, prepare budget folders for all departments on each site
  • Assist in the reconciliation of petty cash accounts for each site
  • Perform ad hoc duties as requested by the Assistant Finance Manager
  • Undertake any associated duties to support the finance department, as may reasonably be required
  • Undertake any training considered appropriate for the better performance of the job

Experience/ Requirements:

  • Previous experience working in a Finance Department, carrying out a Purchase Ledger Assistant role
  • PSF Financials experience
  • Enhanced DBS preferable
  • Excellent written and oral communications
  • Good understanding of basic accounting principles
  • Experience of performing reconciliations and ability to investigate reconciling items and to formulate and implement corrective action
  • Able to manage high volume workload and work effectively with support
  • Use own initiative and proactively identify and highlight concerns
