Permanent, Full Time (35 hours per week, Monday – Friday 06:00 until 13:00)
IFA are now looking for a Forge Operative to use the forklift truck to load up incoming materials into furnaces and then from the furnaces onto the GFM machine. You will be part of the team working the GFM machine to produce high quality forged flat and round bars. You will operate furnaces and track materials within the department, and carry out bar cutting, inspecting, off-loading and marking up bars before moving them to the holding area. You will have the opportunity to set up and operate the GFM machine.

What we’re looking for…
The ideal candidate must have the potential to drive the GFM machine which includes the ability to set and operate the machine across the whole shift, including the set up and closing down. The machine is very complex and works on a CNC system and you’ll receive full training. A background in either forging or machining or CNC programming would be useful, we do not expect candidates to have any experience in operating a GFM machine as full training will be given.
As the role includes operating a forklift truck it would be useful to have experience in this task although again full training will be given. For the right candidate this is a could be a great opportunity to start a career in forging metals.
