ACCOUNTS ASSISTANT with payroll focus"
Location - Tividale, West Midlands
GBP21,000 per annum & study support
Our client is an AIM-listed passenger transport group with operations in various locations across the UK. They operate local bus services and coaches in Birmingham, Preston, Greater Manchester and Greater London. Revenue sources come from a mixture of corporate contracts, local authority and on bus cash from fare paying customers. They are a fast growing organisation having made multiple acquisitions over recent years.
Role
Reporting to the Finance Director and supported by the Senior Management Accountant this Accounts Assistant role will cover various functions of the accounts team on a rotation basis, with the main focus being the processing of weekly and monthly payroll.
In the role you will be supported by a talented accounts team and will be given opportunities to develop your skills and knowledge regarding payroll and accounting functions. The company are committed to supporting the successful candidate with their further studies as part of the role. Responsibilities and Duties
- Responsible for carrying out processes and procedures in line with the businesses needs
- Execute HMRC Statutory reporting in respect of Real Time Information, Full Payment Submissions, Employer Payment Summary and End of Year Updates including P60s and P11Ds
- Maintain the Access payroll system to ensure employees are paid in line with Company Policies and Statutory Legislation
- Provide support and advice to business in respect all payroll related matters and ensure PAYE is operated appropriately
- Performing payroll related reconciliations and providing reports
- Management CJRS / Furlough pay and subsequent claims to HMRC
- Posting supplier invoices, credit notes, payments and refunds
- Dealing with invoice and payment queries
- Putting together weekly payment runs based upon a cash flow budget set by management
- Keeping the ledgers up to date and allocating payments
Qualifications and Skills
- Good ability in the use of Microsoft packages
- Good excel skills
- Knowledge of working in different systems
- Experience or interest in Finance & Accounting
