When things go wrong, we'll come to the rescue!

At British Gas we are proud of our position as the UK's largest energy and in-home servicing supplier, serving over 6.5 million customers every year. Each day, thousands of engineers are trusted by customers to enter their homes and businesses providing solutions and services, keeping them warm and safe

We have some exciting new opportunities to become part of our team working locally in your area. We are looking for Trainee White Goods Engineers to help us deliver a range of energy solutions to our customers.

In this role you will be working with talented, friendly people from a wide range of diverse backgrounds. As a team we pride ourselves on being "Here to solve" for our customers and this role is at the heart of this; keeping things simple and continually striving to improve what we do.

You will join us on a 14-week learning programme (10 weeks in centre / 4 weeks in the field) where we will provide you with the knowledge to then go out into customers homes repairing and maintaining a range of white goods appliances. The training will take place in Wakefield, West Yorkshire and if this is not local to you, we will provide accommodation for your time there including any travel costs incurred.

Once you have completed the programme, you'll be ready to go out to customers' homes in your own fully equipped van, with the latest tablet and mobile phone at your fingertips.

As you would expect from a company such as ours, we offer a competitive starting salary of GBP20,000 rising to GBP24,000 once you have successfully completed your training. Once you are fully up to speed as an experienced White Goods Engineer your salary will rise to GBP29,510.00 for a 40-hour week, with an additional GBP3,828 to GBP5,328 for living or starting your day within London.

Overtime is available, should you want it, plus we offer a generous uncapped bonus scheme which can be taken in time off or as a cash payment - it's up to you!

We also offer a host of benefits to suit your lifestyle and support your wellbeing. These include private health cover, 33 days paid holiday (Inc. bank holidays), enhanced sick pay and excellent company discounts. In addition, we offer a generous pension scheme.

What will you need to do the job?

It would be great if you have a qualification in an Electrical or Mechanical subject, however we want to hear from you if you are genuinely interested in learning a new skill and want to use your customer service skills every day. This is a challenging role with fantastic rewards, it is an opportunity to start a new career with real development opportunities and long-term prospects.

A full UK driving licence with 6 points or less is a must
