Our client, a multimillion-pound firm based in Ipswich with offices across the UK are looking for a Test Manager to join their team on a 12 month contract. You will be responsible for developing and managing the delivery test strategy which will be designed to ensure that all software and business changes delivered are of quality which conforms to company standards and meets the wider requirements of the business.

Key Responsibilities:

* Develop and manage the test strategy, activities and relevant areas of the delivery cycle for the upgrade project and migration programme, for use in software and certain hardware changes across the business and its third party suppliers

* Undertake assessments in accordance with the organisation's risk appetite and ensure that test strategies conform to this whilst optimizing the efficiency of test effort

* Ensure that a robust governance framework is applied to all test activity, including the definition of clear quality gates for acceptance of changes and oversee compliance with these gates

* Ensure and evidence compliance with relevant test standards at all points within the software delivery cycle

* Validate all test documentation (internal or external), compile evidence of conformed outcomes and be responsible for sign-off ahead of Steering committee approval to move to the deployment phase.

* Ensure that actual vs planned test progress is reported to management on a timely basis and that management is fully sighted as to any significant variances arising

* Manage test system environments and resources and schedule availability to support overall business requirements

* Act as an escalation point (internal and external) for complex and/or technical queries; offer support and guidance to the team when handling difficult or complex situations and ensure that they are dealt with in a fair and timely manner

* Plan, co-ordinate and manage testing resources across the business and relevant third parties (including suppliers and key business partners), ensuring that these are used in the most efficient and effective manner.

* Recruit, Manage, motivate and develop employees (including contract resources where appropriate) at all levels, in a manner that is consistent with the Company's policies and procedures, to maximize the performance of the area.

* Oversee the development of a reusable regression pack which can be automated in the future to reduce the dependency on the business for future changes.

* Ensure that full requirements traceability is achieved, quality review of test cases and provide guidance to teams creating test cases on test case design techniques ensuring that they have been applied.

* Embed the use of Test Management tools across the teams with automated test and defect management reporting

* Working with the existing test function to embed project specific improvements into the overall Test Policy and strategy

* Ensure appropriate management and resolution of any outstanding defects that the business have risk accepted at the point of production implementation

The successful candidate will hold a ISTQB Practitioner in Software Testing qualification (or equivalent). Previous experience of managing test in an upgrade/migration project of similar scale and complexity, creating test cases from user stories and guiding/quality assuring output from teams
