The Roles - Field Engineers (FTTP)
Location - Colchester
Package - Salary in the range of GBP28,000 - GBP35,000 basic plus van / benefits
It's been good to see FTTP as busy as ever and one of our key customers keeps pushing forward with full fibre build solutions across the UK, so this client side owner of the network are now looking to recruit 2 additional field engineers to get involved on survey and customer connections around the Colchester area.
As the first engineers joining the region, you'll report to the national field operations manager and regionally will be responsible for the final part of the customer journey, so FTTP all of the way from the access network to customer premises - residential and business.
The opportunity is going to be different to the vast majority of the field engineering roles on the market and due to the fact you would be joining the business early, you'll be the first engineers to join in house, and can have a real input and voice into how this is done for Essex, with the support of the existing national teams and alongside the local build team.
On that basis, we need to recruit people who will set the standard for others to follow, and we can pay the salaries to attract some of the best FTTP engineers in the region. Working as a two person team, you'll be responsible for all aspects of the install, and moving forward, for service as well.
You'll get involved in the initial survey's, and as the roll out speeds up, you'll be the driving force behind lighting the customers up across the Colchester / Essex region.
This is working on the client side, so you will be permanent, it is a salary rather than price work and you won't be hammered by KPI's. It's a Monday to Friday, normal working week and everything is brand new so you won't be working with old equipment, and you won't be in a business with old school attitudes - "This is how we have always done it" definitely isn't a phrase you will be hearing.
Engineers will be sharing a van in a team of two and we are flexible as to how that works. Work is all around Colchester and surrounding areas for now so living within range of the patch would be the ideal situation.
Who are you?
A residential installer with brilliant customer experience skills and a proven track record of installing fibre based cable into customer premises. This is FTTP but we are happy to talk with the area's best engineers even if you strictly haven't done FTTP - good engineers with HFC or FTTC can quickly be trained and it's your attitude, personality and ability to contribute as an all rounder that is key and the opportunity for you is that those engineers who join the business now, are in the driving seat by way of progression and moving upwards as this continues to grow.
Some fibre blowing / splicing experience would be perfect.
You'll be NRSWA qualified and understand the specifics linked to health and safety. We need people who are ready to roll up their sleeves and get involved with all aspects of the customer install so that will involve everything from digging and pulling cable, all of the way through customer demonstrations.
Full driving license is needed and the ability to pass DBS checks.
We're looking to interview ASAP and ideally start engineers working before August. Flexibility is there for video interviews and again, this is client side, permanent, stable and in a company that is well funded and have huge plans for expansion
