ABOUT THE ROLE

Liberty Speciality Steels currently have a fantastic opportunity for an experienced Electrical Section Engineer to join our business, based at our Aldwarke Cast Products site in Rotherham.

The Electrical Section Engineer will take full responsibility for directing, leading, and supporting a highly skilled multi-disciplined team, providing an Electrical and Process Control service to Aldwarke Cast Products operations. This includes ensuring continuous improvement in the standards of engineering, health and safety, and environmental performance, ensuring that set business objectives are met.

The Electrical Section Engineer must have the technical, operational and practical experience to make immediate, considered judgements in breakdown situations, paying due regard to the safety and financial implications. This is against a background of continual pressure to satisfy and improve production requirements all of which could lead to out of hours working.

The postholder will also ensure that Capital, Revenue, and Maintenance programmes are carried out efficiently and within budgets, as well as deputising for the Lead Engineer in their absence.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The Electrical Section Engineer will undertake the following duties and responsibilities;

* Determine and allocate the engineering resources and materials needed to satisfy the operational and engineering requirements of the plant.

* Devise and develop planned maintenance and inspection schedules and ensure that they are implemented to meet statutory, quality and engineering requirements.

* Provide technical and engineering expertise to Production Management and Department Engineers.

* To ensure that plant, departmental personnel and contractors operate within and comply with Liberty policy and statuary Health, Safety and Environmental legislation.

* To ensure safety standards in the area are maintained and safe working procedures are implemented and adhered to at all levels. Reporting any accidents and near misses, to improve the Occupational Safety of personnel.

* To clearly implement and demonstrate the required approach to process safety requirements in the area of responsibility.

* Monitor and control expenditure on spares, materials and labour to keep within agreed budgets.

* Identify and assist in the preparation of capital and revenue schemes, resulting in the continuous enhancement of engineering and production performance.

* Develop, prepare and submit Major Maintenance proposals and Stop Week schedules, with responsibility for justification, and full implementation, in order to meet the programme of Works within agreed costs and timescales.

* Organise and manage the training and development of the Electrical and Process Control elements of a multi discipline engineering team and production personnel to provide a safety conscious and technically competent workforce.

* Liaise with and assist Project Engineers during the course of the design and implementation of capital, revenue and major maintenance schemes.

* Negotiate contracts, organise and control specialist contractors providing both on and off-site maintenance and services, refurbishment and modifications. Ensure that such contractors are competent and are adequately informed of the job requirements, arrange permits to work, agree access and safety procedures and to ensure such requirements are adhered to.

* To lead and co-ordinate investigations, identify root cause and implement solutions to any problems occurring within the area of responsibility.

* To monitor KPIs for the area of responsibility, identify any deviation from target and implement corrective action at the appropriate level.

* To perform the role of Duty Engineer when requested, having sole responsibility for all engineering aspects of ACP whilst following a weekend rota-working pattern should production levels necessitate.

* Engage in the development and failure reduction activities

REQUIRED SKILLS

The Electrical Section Engineer must hold the following skills and experience;

* A strong technical knowledge of electrical, process control and systems engineering with a comprehensive understanding of complex hydraulic and pneumatic systems together with a good understanding of mechanical engineering principals.

* At least 5 years' experience in either a supervisory or technical role and must hold one of the following qualifications Electrical Engineering Degree or equivalent HND or HNC.

* The jobholder will become an authorised person in terms of High Voltage and Electricity at Work regulations.

* A sound knowledge of accounting, stores and purchasing systems.

* Strong Drive, Motivation and Commitment: the extent to which the individual is self-starting and self-motivated and the degree and consistency of energy / enthusiasm which is committed in the pursuit of objectives and business goals.

* Ability to meet deadlines.

* Able to communicate in clear concise manner, both in writing and orally, communicating honestly, clearly and directly, making effective use of communication technology.

* Computer literate with practical experience of SAP.
