HR Manager / Temporary / GBP17.00-26.00 / Full or Part Time / Chester / Excellent Opportunity

A large NHS Trust, based near Chester, is recruiting a skilled HR Manager on an on=going temporary assignment. This role has the potential of being extended or becoming permanent. It will give you the exposure of working within a well respected HR function for one the North West's largest hospitals.

Reporting into the Head of HR, the duties will include:

  1. Support managers by interpreting and advising on policies, procedures and employment law and advising on the best course of action. This will include a range of employment and employee relation matters such as absence, performance management, grievance, disciplinary, reorganisations and TUPE. The post holder will be responsible for assisting management or external investigators in conducting timely investigations and providing hearing panel support as required.
  2. Advise managers on the application of both policies and procedures including advising on complex employment law issues and promoting good practice.
  3. To assist the PODBP in providing support across the allocated Care Groups/Clinical Support Services to promote, develop and sustain strong service delivery;
  4. Build and maintain productive working relationships with internal and external customers;
  5. Provide and receive complex, sensitive or contentious information to a range of audiences;
  6. Support the job evaluation system and provide advice to staff and managers on job design as well as undertake job evaluation assessments feeding back to managers on outcomes and proposing changes as appropriate;
  7. Plan, review and implement changes to policies and procedures and support implementation by delivering policy briefings and 1:1 coaching with managers across the Trust;
  8. Work closely with the wider People Services team providing advice and guidance to customers on workforce issue to promote a climate of good practice;
  9. Ensures the timeous preparation of management information and reports as necessary. Presents information / reports as required and ensures agreed follow up action taken to enable implementation of decisions;
  10. Work closely with staff side colleagues to support and provide partnership working
  11. Takes the 'lead expert' role in an agreed aspect of HR work in order to develop expertise over time, acting as a resource for colleagues;
  12. Keep up to date with developments in employment legislation and HR best practice and contributes to ensuring policies and processes are subsequently reviewed;
  13. Facilitate the development of HR skills and capacity in managers by advising and providing information on employment law matters and best practice including the provision of relevant training sessions;
  14. Work with a highly proactive approach, using initiative to ensure a quality HR service is delivered to achieve business focused outcomes;
  15. Provide support to the POD Business Partner on organisational change management including staff transfers through TUPE or redundancy ensuring appropriate consultation takes place;
  16. Assist in the preparation of Employment Tribunal documentation and attend Tribunals to give evidence as and when required;
  17. Contributes to continuous improvement raising challenges to existing practice and actively seeking ways of achieving better service value;
  18. Carries out any other reasonable duties within the overall function, commensurate with the grading and level of responsibility of the post.

The ideal candidate will have similar experience within a large setting, preferable the NHS, a solid understanding of HR Generalist tasks, experience of working within a unionised environment, have effective communication skills and a strong understanding of IT systems.
