Job Title: Technical & Operations Manager

Salary: GBP35,000 per annum

Location: North Chailey (own transport required)

Duration: Permanent

Hours: Monday to Friday, 40 hours per week

Travail Employment Group are excited to be working with our client in their search for a Technical and Operations Manager to join their busy team. This is a great opportunity for an individual who has excellent communication and time management skills, and the ability to deal with multiple stakeholders.

The Technical & Operations Manager will be responsible for managing the site and quality related processes to ensure the production of safe and compliant pet food.

The key responsibilities of this role include leading, managing and motivating the team to ensure its staff and assets are used effectively and to maximise efficiency and customer service levels. You will also be required to train staff to work safely, actively manage staff and plan and direct site resources. Demonstrating a positive approach to motivate and encourage team members is key.

The Role

Ensure the site is compliant in line with the company Quality Manual
Managing site pre-requisite programs including GMP/hygiene, cleaning and sanitation, testing and verification, staff training and documentation
Lead HACCP with the site team
Manage environmental, raw material and finished product micro testing program, and results reporting
Product traceability, batch control and product recall management
Quality issues investigation and corrective action reporting (internal and consumer complaints)
Formulation/pack compliance
Ensure compliance to UK regulatory requirements
Support the supplier management process together with the Production Supervisor
Ensure the health and safety of people visiting or working who are not employees by not exposing them to risk.
Comply with corporate and legal health and safety requirements
Adhere to and improve operational and technical processes
Actively manage staff, resources, conduct ongoing training and lead motivation of the team

The Person

Previous experience in food manufacturing or the meat industry is essential
Understanding of raw materials and supplier management
UK regulatory understanding (EU regulatory understanding is beneficial)
GMP best practice and microbiology
Good understanding of Microsoft Office
Experience of managing and growing an operations team
Good manufacturing processes
Ability to work well within a challenging and fast paced environment
