About the role:

We have a fantastic opportunity for an ambitious Solicitor to join our growing Legal team here at Wolseley. You will partner with colleagues at all levels to achieve business objectives whilst managing legal risk and become a trusted advisor to the business.

This is a great opportunity for a solicitor already working in house or someone looking to take their first steps in a business, to broaden their experience within a respected, forward thinking, and ambitious legal team.

Primarily, you will be responsible for:

* Leading, supporting and collaborating with range of colleagues to meet a host of legal needs and support business goals, providing commercial and pragmatic solutions at pace in a complex environment

* Drafting, reviewing, negotiating and reporting on a wide range of commercial contracts in line with governance requirements (eg customer and supplier framework agreements, IT, indirect procurement)

* Providing strategic and legal support on corporate projects, material disputes, and/or compliance issues

* Developing and/or maintaining subject matter expertise in a core legal compliance area, e.g. GDPR, antitrust, AML, ABC

* Working in collaboration with other members of the Legal team, to continuously improve the Legal Operating Model and drive innovation

* Use of data to report on personal and team workloads and associated issues and/or risks

* Provide training relating to legal matters for colleagues

What we are looking for:

* A commercially minded lawyer, qualified in England & Wales, with 2-8 years PQE.

* First class technical knowledge, able to balance legal and commercial requirements

* Track record in providing practical legal advice in relation to (GBPm+) commercial contracts, disputes and associated general regulatory and compliance work, to colleagues at various levels

* Excellent drafting, communicating and influencing skills

* Strong analytical skills, able to quickly identify and present key issues concisely

* Experience of delivering at pace, alone and as part of a team, and managing mix of stakeholders

* Experience working in-house with major corporate preferable, ideally in complex multi-site B2B service environment such as building/construction/distribution would be highly advantageous
