Role Purpose
The main functions of this role will be the preparation, extraction and analysis of routine samples as part of the service provided to NRW in accordance with directives such as the water framework directive and EQSD.
There may also be an element of non-routine analysis such as pollution incident response, commercial analysis or investigative project based work.
Other duties include maintenance of routine laboratory records, monitoring stock levels and ordering as required, upkeep of quality documentation, equipment maintenance and general good laboratory housekeeping.
This role sits within the routine organics team at NRWAS based at Swansea University.
Qualifications and Skills
1. Previous experience in an ISO:17025 accredited analytical laboratory is desirable but not essential as full training will be given.
2. Experience and knowledge is more important than qualifications for this role, so entry level can be with science GCSEs although graduate entry is the norm
3. Customer focussed service. Good communication skills are essential when dealing with colleagues within the laboratory or external clients.
4. The ability to work as part of a team to tight deadlines ensuring all results are accurately and efficiently reported daily.
