Developer/Programmer/Software Engineer- Oracle, PL, SQL

Following a steady business growth, we have an exciting opportunity for an experienced IT Developer here at Rhenus Warehousing Solutions Lutterworth. We are part of Rhenus Group, a leading logistics services provider with global business operations and an annual turnover of euro 5.5 billion.

A suitable candidate would be someone with knowledge of system integration, Oracle PL/SQL and web services such as REST, SOAP and API. You will be working in a small team of software developers to create and manage solutions around the warehouse management systems.

The role will report to Head of IT.

Shift pattern: Monday to Friday, 08:30-17:00, 37.5 hours per week (Flexibility will be required to ensure that business needs are met).

Key Responsibilities:

  • Specifying, writing, testing and implementing new applications
  • Maintaining software applications
  • Testing, for quality and customer assurance purposes
  • Writing procedures for the software applications or the changes that you have made, to share with operatives and support team
  • Participating in sprint meetings to plan activities, estimate effort and completion times
  • Quote, taking into account all risks and contain appropriate contingency
  • Freely sharing knowledge, insight, best practice and ideas
  • Drive consistent standards and write clean, structured, well-documented code
  • Deliver solutions which are well tested and consistently error free, optimised for performance and security

Skills and Experience:

  • At least four years' experience of software development.
  • Experience with Agile development methodologies
  • LAMP and Microsoft
  • Oracle PL/SQL and Oracle Reports
  • Systems integrations
  • Good understanding of web services protocols such as REST, SOAP and API design for extensibility and portability.
  • Hands-on experience in designing, development, implementing and supporting solutions
  • Strong working knowledge on APIs and ecosystem (like REST APIs, secure network communication, JSON) and industry best practices
  • Experience of source and version control, eg Subversion
  • Oracle and Oracle SQL Developer and PL/SQL
  • System to system Integration and integration toolkits
