Our well respected client has a permanent vacancy for an IT Systems Engineer. The IT department works as a team in providing an efficient IT service to all users. The job holder is responsible for maintaining and upgrading the IT infrastructure and providing second & third line IT support and to assist in resolving day to day IT problems/queries in order to ensure that smooth running of the IT systems takes place at all times.

• To deliver practical services of excellence that are focused on user's needs.

• Assist the IT Infrastructure Manager with the project management and implementation of

new systems.

• To work closely with the firm's Security and Infrastructure Engineer, to ensure

knowledge and expertise is at a high level across both roles.

• Acts as functional escalation point and triage for local desktop, infrastructure and security

incidents and requests from wider Tech team, undertaking basic administration duties

across all relevant infrastructure technologies when needed.

• To assist the helpdesk team ensuring adequate cover is available between the hours of 08:00

through to 17:30 (buddy system)

• To provide second/third line IT support and to act as an escalation point working with other

members of the IT department in resolving day-to-day IT problems and ensuring that all

queries are recorded in the helpdesk system and followed up as necessary.

• Monitor systems and identify performance issues proactively

• Identify problem trends and implement changes as required (including the implementation

of new processes)

• Identify, design and plan to ensure continued service availability and ensure all changes are

carried out in a controlled and tested manor

• Work with other functions within the business to help identify issues and requirements with

a view to continued service improvement

• To assist in the implementation and maintenance of new software packages.

• To be responsible for monitoring all software/data backups.

• To assist in the implementation and compliance of IT policies and rules.

• To review new technology and keep abreast of changes in technology primarily which will

involve regularly reading periodicals, communicating and putting forward information and

suggestions as appropriate.

• To learn and develop a thorough knowledge of all software products used by the firm.

• To maintain a supervisory/mentoring role to the 1st line helpdesk team.

• To support the IT infrastructure out of hours, if needed.

• To undertake any other reasonable duties as required.

Requirements

• Windows Server 2012,2016, 2019

• Microsoft Exchange 2016,2019, O365

• Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS, DHCP, IIS, iSCSI, VPN, WSUS

• Windows 10

• Knowledge/experience of multi-site networks

• Firewall experience (Palo Alto desirable, not essential)

• Working knowledge of iSCSI SAN/Storage (Nimble desirable, not essential)

• Microsoft Office 2016

• Mobile device management - MobileIron - iOS

• Experience of Virtualisation Platforms, VMware & HyperV.

• Experience of automation systems for deploying PC/Laptops

• Backup Software - Veeam and Backup Exec

• Knowledge of legal software applications (desirable, not essential)

• Knowledge/experience of AntiVirus packages (McAfee desirable, not essential)
