The Charity

Founded in 2015, Breaking Barriers is a fast-paced, start-up charity with a mission to help refugees in London gain the knowledge, confidence and experience to secure stable and fulfilling employment in their new home. We offer effective and flexible employment support in direct partnership with businesses that help refugees secure work, progress into better jobs, and successfully integrate into UK society. We have a unique approach, working with corporate partners to help refugees develop careers that match their skills, experience and aspirations.

Since Breaking Barriers’ inception in 2015, we have grown to support in excess of 500 refugees per year and have ambitious plans to expand this as part of our strategic plan. We concentrate on getting things done in a flexible environment where everyone is encouraged to take ownership and contribute. We are a team of over 40 employees supported by several hundred volunteers, who are all driven and committed to helping London’s refugee community. The Role

Private sector engagement is at the heart of our mission to support people of a refugee background into meaningful employment. This role will be vital in helping BB continue its rapid growth and mission. We are looking for a talented and ambitious individual to join Breaking Barriers at an exciting period of our development. This diverse role is perfect for someone looking to make a difference and gain experience working within a corporate partnerships team. The successful candidate will provide crucial administrative, internal/external comms and wider support to the partnership management and new business function. It will work closely with the Breaking Barriers service delivery team to help ensure our shared value partnerships have the maximum impact for the refugee clients we look to support. The role will be key in helping to maximise impact through existing partnerships and supporting a pipeline of new opportunities through bespoke events and approaches to potential partners.

Key Responsibilities

Supporting the wider Partnerships team to help deliver bespoke partner activities across a portfolio of 20+ partners.
Work with the Partnerships team and Comms team to create internal comms content relating to corporate partner activity.
Support the Partnerships team with administrative support, financial tracking, and monitoring and evaluation reporting.
Support the Senior Business Development Manager with reviewing and enhancing resources and materials to support new business development.
Work closely with Partnership Managers and the Programmes team to support with programme delivery including workshops and employment opportunities where required, to ensure we are gaining outcomes for our clients through our Corporate Partnerships.
Manage some partnerships, including fundraising, comms and delivery requirements.
Attend meetings and events as a representative of Breaking Barriers.
Write compelling proposals, reports and correspondence in support of strategic priorities.
Provide support to the CEO, Head of Corporate Partnerships and wider Partnerships team including briefing materials for meetings
Build and develop cross-organisational relationships to facilitate fundraising and strengthen understanding of corporate partnerships
Across all teams in corporate partnerships, maintain regular monitoring and updating of our CRM database, ensuring data is updated regularly and timely for reporting requirements.
Support on logistics and creation of key external organisational events, through fundraising or thought leadership.
Undertake any other duties that may reasonably be required within the scope of this role.
