Full and part time hours available, 38 weeks per year

GBP14,530 - GBP18,266 per annum

Do you have the desire in making a difference, have great people skills and potential ability to support young people with learning difficulties and or disabilities? Then we have an opening for you.

We are looking for new and experienced Learning Support Assistants (LSA) within our Curriculum Services team to work across the following three City College Norwich campuses: Norwich campus, Easton campus and Paston campus, supporting in a range of learning environments and academic areas.

There are permanent and supply posts with full or part time hours available over 36 weeks per year of term time and additional two weeks of CPD (continuous professional development). There is also an opportunity for evening hours as well.

Currently, we have a need in the following academic areas, although you may be also asked to work in other areas too depending on student support needs: Media, Engineering. Sport, Agriculture and GCSE/A levels.

You will have a good level of literacy, numeracy and ICT to support alongside practical or subject based knowledge. The most important attribute we look for is the drive to want to support young adults to be independent, confident and ready for work, irrespective of any barriers to learning.

We are also looking for staff to support in our Preparation for Adult Life (PAL) course

This is a fantastic opportunity to work at the college in one of our specialist areas and rated outstanding by Ofsted. PAL students come to learn and gain independence skills, accessing the latest technology and facilities. We have purpose-built learning environments, with specialist sensory area, a rebound therapy room and two personal care suites.

You will have knowledge or willingness to work with students with profound and highly complex needs and the successful applicant applicants will be asked to offer personal intimate care, feeding, medication and participate in activities such as swimming and outdoor trips (post covid). Experience and knowledge in both care and education settings would be an advantage.

When you join the college, we give training to allow you to progress. Applicants for Tier 4 positions must have or be willing to undertake the Level 3 Certificate in Learning Support or equivalent programme within 2 years, where we provide the training. Applications welcome from those new to support but looking for a career in supporting students with a learning disability or difficulty.

Applicants for Tier 2 and 3 positions will have a full level 3 Learning Support Practitioner Qualification or something similar. For this tier, you will also have a level C/5 or above GCSE English and maths.
