About Us

Money Advice Trust provides free information, advice and resources to help people successfully manage their finances. With demand for money advice consistently outstripping supply, finding more efficient ways of helping people is at the heart of our work.

Every day, our Money Advisers make a huge difference by supporting people in difficult circumstances as part of our National Debtline and Business Debtline services. These services offer practical self-help – empowering people in debt to speak to creditors directly and put solutions in place to resolve their debt problems.

We’re currently looking for part-time Triage Advisers to join our National Debtline Service for a 12-month fixed-term contract with a view to permanency (subject to funding), working circa 21 hours per week.

The Benefits

- Salary circa £22,000 pro rata per annum plus benefits
- Generous pension
- Death in Service
- A range of health and wellbeing benefits
- Money saving initiatives
- Rewards for working in line with our values
- 29 days’ annual leave (pro rata)
- One duvet day per quarter that can be taken at short notice (taken out of leave allowance)
- The option to buy/sell leave

This is an excellent opportunity for a customer-focused individual with experience in handling a high volume of calls from a varied customer group to join our organisation and offer tailored and impartial advice to callers of our National Debtline Service.

You’ll have the chance to undertake excellent training, which will give you the tools and expertise you need to help people tackle their debts and manage their money with confidence.

Whether you want to work from home, in the office or a mixture of both, the choice is yours. To work from home, you will need good Broadband and WiFi and be adept at using remote working technology. You will also need to attend our Birmingham office two to three times per year.

The Role

As a Triage Adviser, you’ll offer advice and guidance to callers with debt issues.

You will answer a high volume of inbound calls and offer tailored and impartial advice, signposting clients to specialist teams where necessary.

Additionally, some of your duties will include:

- Communicating with callers in an empathetic, non-judgmental manner
- Identifying the most effective support for callers
- Working with colleagues across the organisation to ensure that a high-quality service is delivered
- Performing a range of administrative tasks

About You

To join us as a Triage Adviser, you will need:

- Experience in handling a high volume of calls from a varied customer group
- Strong IT skills, including proficiency in MS Word, Excel and Outlook and remote working software
- Fast data entry skills
- The ability to display resilience while remaining calm and professional
- Great communication and interpersonal skills

Experience in a call centre or business to business (B2B) role would be beneficial, as would knowledge of debt advice practices.

The role will involve working a shift pattern between our service hours of 9.00 am – 8.00 pm with a one in four Saturday working rota (9.30 am – 1.00 pm). You must also be able to complete the initial six-week training period on a full-time basis.

The closing date for applications is the 25th of June 2021, with a fixed start date of 6th of September 2021.

Other organisations may call this role Money Advisor, Debt Adviser, Debtline Advisor, or Debt Helpline Advisor.
