DOMESTIC BURSAR (INTERIM)
Fixed-Term, Full Time Post: Salary range £51,034 - £64,604 pa
Sidney Sussex College, Cambridge University, wishes to recruit an interim Domestic Bursar to be in post from September 2021 to coincide with the departure of the current Domestic Bursar. Recruitment to the permanent role will commence during Michaelmas Term 2021.
The Domestic Bursar is a senior administrative position with responsibility for the operational management of the College. The challenge of the job is to effectively manage a trade-off between delivering operational efficiency and developing the internal and external catering and accommodation business, with the educational mission of the College. A key to the role is nurturing a culture of good customer service amongst College staff.
Reflecting the close engagement with the Principal Officers and the Fellowship, and responsibility for the smooth delivery of operational services across the College, the post carries a Bye-Fellowship of the College.
This is a full time, fixed-term post to 31 January (with the potential to extend if required). The salary is based on points 56 - 64 of the University’s single salary spine, currently equating to a gross salary of £51,034 to £64,604 per annum. Benefits also include an annual leave entitlement of 25 days holiday plus 8 bank holidays; access to an excellent contributory pension scheme provided by the Universities Superannuation Scheme (USS), dining privileges of a Bye-Fellow, and subsidised membership of the College’s gym facilities. College accommodation may also be available at subsidised rents.
The successful candidate will have proven leadership; interpersonal and organisational skills, and ideally possess a background in senior management in the catering or hospitality sector. Excellent financial awareness and the ability to inspire confidence at all levels will be important as will experience in delivering successful change management in a diverse and changing environment.
