Health and Safety Officer
Location: Alva, Clackmannanshire - FK12 5DQ
Salary: GBP30,000 - 36,700, DOE

Omega Diagnostics Ltd. are a UK based healthcare company headquartered in Alva near Stirling in Scotland and founded in 1987. We employ approximately 250 staff between two sites in Alva and Littleport, Cambridgeshire.
We develop and manufacture a range of immunodiagnostic products. Our mission is to improve human health and well-being through innovative diagnostic tests and global partnerships. We are significantly expanding our scientific team on both UK sites for the production of Covid-19 tests.
We currently have an opening for an experienced Health and Safety Officer.
Health and Safety Officer - Job Purpose:
To provide day to day H&S support at Omega Diagnostics Ltd Alva by monitoring standards, processes, training and systems to ensure compliance to internal H&S policy and external legislation, and by providing H&S advice and support to managers and other employees.
Main Areas of Responsibility:
• Monitor and review processes, training and systems to ensure compliance to internal QMS standards and to current Health and Safety legislation.
• Provide advice and support to managers on H&S matters
• Provide guidance/undertake COSHH and other risk assessments.
• Identify H&S issues and undertake incident and other H&S investigations.
• Coordinate and deliver H&S induction for new employees and temporary staff.
• Evaluate and report on external fire safety assessments and internal fire drills
• Support and manage fire wardens and first aiders, and other personnel as required
• Compile data for product Safety Data Sheets in line with CLP and/or (UK) REACH, WEE Regulations, as relevant.
• Liaise with external auditors and external agencies on matters relating to H&S
• Advise and support management of contractors on site on matters of H&S
General Areas of Responsibility:
• Carry out all duties and responsibilities to the company standard within the timescales required
• Maintain compliance with Health & Safety policies and procedures
• Maintain compliance with QMS policies and procedures
• Maintain compliance with GDPR and Cyber Security policies and procedures
• Perform any other reasonable duties and responsibilities as required
Health and Safety Officer - Knowledge, Qualifications & Skills:
• Degree level qualification in a relevant STEM subject (eg Chemistry, Biosciences etc)
• Qualification in Health and Safety, an advantage
• Demonstrable experience of working in a laboratory or manufacturing setting
• Previous experience of working in a Health and Safety role
• Awareness of Health and Safety legislation (eg COSHH, PUWER)
• Detailed knowledge of aspects of Health and Safety legislation
• Knowledge of chemistry/ biochemistry or Lab skills
• Good numeracy and literacy with good IT skills (eg Excel, Word, Outlook, Databases etc).
• Excellent Problem-solving skills
