Nagel Langdons has an exciting opportunity for a Warehouse Operator with a forklift licence to join our team based in Dover. You will be working on a full time, permanent basis, Sunday - Thursday 22:00 - 07:30 and in return receive a competitive salary of GBP23,201 per annum.
Ever wondered how Cornish ice cream gets to Glasgow without melting? Well that's what we do at Nagel Langdons. We have 10 depots and over 450 lorries carrying chilled and frozen food all over the country. We're the only company providing a 24-hour service of this kind, and we're very good at it.
The Warehouse Operator role:
To undertake allocated Warehouse-related duties in a safe, cost-effective and efficient manner.
What you'll be doing as our Warehouse Operator:
- Receive and check loads into the warehouse, ensuring all correct packaging and labelling is in place and any discrepancies are reported to relevant colleagues in a timely manner.
- Ensure all stock handled is secure, complies with relevant food safety standards and all necessary records are updated.
- Operate assigned mechanical handling equipment to store and transport customer goods in line with prescribed temperatures and company procedures.
- Assist with assembling loads for despatch and onto vehicles where required.
- Conduct periodic quality checks and ensure standards of cleanliness, hygiene levels and associated food safety standards are adhered to, intervening to correct non- conformance and escalating any concerns promptly to relevant colleagues where necessary.
- Take action to ensure any hazards are controlled or removed to ensure a safe working environment at all times.
To become our Warehouse Operator, you must have:
- Forklift licence
- Up-to-date licence to use designated mechanical equipment
- IT literate in Microsoft Office packages and have the ability to compile, analyse and interpret relevant data
- Extensive knowledge and application of warehouse, food safety rules and health and safety procedures
- Ability to use initiative and to be so organised that key tasks can be completed fully and on time
- Ability to work to fluid targets and deadlines
- Proven verbal and written communication skills
- Proven arithmetic skills
- Effective working in a team-based environment
- Ability to work in a chilled or frozen temperature-related environment
- Ability to regularly perform manual handling duties
