On behalf of my client we are recruiting for a Residential Care Worker for the Wirral area. You will provide support and care for children who have EBD and Challenging behaviour.

Required:

Proven ability to work on own initiative
Knowledge and understanding of issues relating to people with emotional & challenging behaviours & learning difficulties.
A commitment to a service which provides support to vulnerable individuals, and which is respectful and according to the individuals' wishes
Good communication skills written and verbal. Ability to communicate effectively with young people, colleagues, family members and other professionals
Commitment to training and self-development
Car driver, willing to use own car as required and ability to homes vehicle / drive minibus where applicable
To complete shift work which include sleep in duties

It is essential that you are able to work well as part of a team and on an individual basis and due to regulations requiring workers to be older than the children they are working with, you will need to be aged 21 years or over.

As a Residential Care Worker you will:

Demonstrate ability to develop appropriate working relationships with service users, parents/carers and colleagues. will be based on respect, mutual trust, individual rights and cultural needs.
Be committed to Safeguard and Nurture all children in your care and report immediately where you suspect a child may be or is being harmed.
Promote independence and enables service users to maintain existing skills and learn new skills as appropriate and communicate their needs.
Undertake intimate personal care duties whilst respecting the rights and dignity of service users where required.
Support service users' individual needs, dealing appropriately with challenging behaviour, physical disabilities and mental health needs.
Demonstrate anti-discriminatory practice and is prepared to challenge discriminatory practice in the workplace.
Offer strategies for development of social skills and helps resolve conflict as necessary.
Keep Professional Boundaries in and outside of the work environment.
To act as a role model at all times through appropriate behaviour, dress, use of language and social interaction.
Undertake all training provided to ensure you are clear and Updated on all policies and procedures.The salary is GBP10.31 to GBP10.61 per hour depending on experience, with an additional sleep in rate of GBP46.25
