As a Diabetes Specialist Nurse you'll be working as part of the NHS system in Ormskirk Hospital where we deliver services across West Lancashire: -

At Virgin Care West Lancashire you'll join a small team who put the patient at the centre of everything they do.

As a Diabetes Specialist Nurse, you will:

* promote the health and wellbeing of people with diabetes enabling them to achieve optimum glycaemic control through informed self-management

* will provide a link between GP and consultant led specialist teams and will provide education and support both to people with diabetes and those who care for them

* be accountable for your own caseload

* be responsible for providing specialist nursing care to patients with the most complex needs

You will have a current registration with the Nursing Midwifery Council, experience and knowledge of how to treat service users with diabetes and any other qualifications relating to the specialism. Along with a full driving licence and access to a car for work purposes.

We have built organisation-wide committees in many specialist fields. You'll have the option to join your clinical specialism, networking with professionals from across the country. We get together regularly, auditing and sharing standard methodology for innovation and service re-design. You'll be a part of the pool of subject matter experts bringing together clinical and operational leads. You will be a part of quality improvements, research and development activity.
