About the role
Here at Babcock International we're looking for a Product Cell Manager to join us at HMNB Devonport, one of the largest naval bases in Western Europe. We're a key strategic partner to our customers; the MOD and the Royal Navy. We ensure that the UK Royal Navy goes to sea safely by supporting them in Devonport and around the world, delivering complex ship and submarine sustainment programmes and applying our core strengths of technology and expertise to sustain critical and complex assets to help maintain national security.

The Factory Group's purpose is to provide shop services to Devonport based ship and submarine projects, Fleet Time vessels and the wider Dockyard infrastructure. As a Product Cell Manager you'll be responsible for the management of the Plateshop, leading a team of FLMs, Production Engineers and a multi-skilled trades team consisting of Fabricators, Welders, Machinists and Painters.

You'll use your extensive knowledge and experience of fabrication manufacturing methodologies to provide technical expertise and drive production; interfacing with our internal customers within Devonport Royal Dockyard and the Production Team to ensure efficient and effective delivery, giving equal focus to safety, product quality, cost, welfare, customer, operations and people.

What do I need to do the role?
You'll have a minimum of HNC or equivalent in a relevant engineering discipline, or have equivalent technical experience. You'll also hold a relevant managerial Health and Safety qualification ( e.g. NEBOSH, British Safety Council) and have completed relevant management development courses.

We would also like you to have experience in the following areas:

Significant experience of managing a multi-skilled / multi-disciplined production team
Significant experience of fabrication manufacturing methodologies (from sheet metal to heavy plate assemblies)
In-depth knowledge of Constructive fabrication techniques in a workshop environment. Ideally previous high integrity manufacture such as Oil and Gas or Nuclear industry.Lastly, you'll be a passionate and driven individual who is looking to add value and grow within the leadership team. You'll have excellent interpersonal and communictions skills and the ability to interface effectively with internal and stakeholders at all levels of the businessan our customers.

What else do I need to know?

The successful candidate will need to satisfy Ministry of Defence security requirements. This may require you to hold or be eligible/capable of achieving 'Security Check' (SC) clearance.
