Our client are an established, expanding manufacturing business currently looking for an experienced Continuous Improvement Engineer to join their team.

Key Duties:

Ensure all activities on site are performed in full compliance of Health & Safety in accordance with best practice and legal requirement.
Equipment, plant and facilities maintained in order that they operate safely to the correct quality and efficiency.
Report/liaise with HSE on any safety infringement where required.
To know the locations emergency exits and practice correct evacuation procedures.
Site processes optimised to minimise the impact to the environment.
Strategy and Development - contribute to the creation and implementation of best practice manufacturing strategy, policies, processes and procedures to aid and improve operational performance.
Monitor and manage operational data and production KPI's - including ongoing support and development of the balanced scorecard and visual management for the site, embracing established QCDISME Indicators. Ensure that key operational data is identified and collated in a timely manner to identify performance variances and assist in the development of action plans to bring these back into control. Support the GM and PM in ensuring weekly, monthly and quarterly assessments and forecasts of the organisation's operational goals are being achieved.
Cost Management - Support the General manager, Production Manager and Shift Team Leaders with the detailing of business value streams, monitoring of the Production costs and identifying opportunities to reduce the sources of waste and cost in the operations environment. Support the GM and Production Manager with the visual management of operational costs and assist the communication of this data to all levels in the business.
Develop and implement operational improvements - ensure non-value-added activity is reduced in all manufacturing processes by using lean tools and techniques; support the Team Leaders to manage change working with HR to meet current business requirements; implement manufacturing improvement processes and systems to reduce inventory, increase throughput and minimise cost. Support the Operations Teams (PM and Shift Team Leaders) to create a safe, managed working environment by the implementation of structured workplace organisation methodologies; and support its sustainment by layered audits.
Production control - - Liaise with the PM and planning to ensure potential obstacles to the achievement of the production plan are identified and action plans are implemented to deliver the schedule. Support the Team Leaders in monitoring and review production progress against targets to ensure on time delivery.
Provide Support for the Operations Team - When required provide cover for Shift Team Leaders during Holidays, or in times where absence cover due to sickness is necessary. Act as 'stand-in' for the Production Manager during their Holiday periods.
Developing a high performance workforce - take the lead in promoting and upholding company performance standards and ideology (on time delivery, quality, lean manufacturing, continuous improvement, housekeeping & work ethic); operational excellence (right first time, high productivity, efficiency, effectiveness, minimum waste/maximise value.
Communication - ensure managers/staff and workforce are communicated to accurately and effectively with all necessary information on a regular basis.
HR - liaise with HR on all aspects of workplace issues affecting current or potential employees, these include; terms and conditions of employment, manpower costs, recruitment, training & development, performance management, discipline & grievance and attendance management.
Quality/Hygiene - overall responsibility for working to the requirements of the company's Quality Policy and BRC procedures and discuss any improvements; to ensure all aspects of company hygiene standards and communicated and adhered too.
Growth - proactively support the GM and PM with the coordination and control of new Product development. Support the development of Business Cases and Capex to facilitate the effective introduction of new plant and equipment investments.Key Requirements:

Six Sigma Black Belt is preferred; however lower belt/equivalent will be accepted.
A minimum of 5 years' experience working in a manufacturing/production environment.
Sound knowledge of modern manufacturing methodologies and systems planning.
Proven ability to self-manage and deliver on time to budget.
Excellent inter-personal skills to build relationship internally and externally.
Reliable and flexible in their approach.
Knowledge/participation of the BRCGS accreditation or ISO 9001 an advantage.
Proficient in IT skills (Microsoft Office applications) and experience in MRP systems.
Ability to work under pressure in an extremely fast paced environment and meet deadlines.The Package:

GBP30,000 - GBP31,000 per annum depending on experience.
