Health and Safety Advisor

Exciting new opportunity to support the fight against Covid 19 in one of the UK Mega Labs.

A new very high throughput COVID DHSC testing facility requires a Qualified Health and Safety Advisor to join their team that will ultimately number over 2000 FTE.

Key responsibilities:

• Working with the senior leadership team to develop, implement and manage Health and Safety leadership and technical expertise in the form of written policies, guidelines and procedures, verbal communications and practical involvement fulfilling the legal requirement of competent person.

• To participate in the development, progression and implementation of the site safety management system, and to attend whole Team H&S meetings and Biosafety meetings in order to promote the philosophy and obtain feedback to ensure consistency in standards and approach.
• To interpret and ensure appropriate application of UK H&S legislation and incorporate them into H&S policies and guidelines.

• Take ownership of the site Environment, Health & Safety. Environment (EHS) self-inspection programmes and perform self-inspection audits. Generate written reports to management.

• Working with the training team, ensure adequate provision of H&S training for employees, through external training providers and development and delivery of 'in-house' training packages.
• Participate in, train and give guidance on team inspections and audits, giving guidance to the management audit team.
• Participate in audits and development of the site audit programme.

Essential criteria:

- Alevel 6 EHS Qualification (NEBOSH diploma or equivalent)

-Previous experience in an EHS advisor role.

Preferable:

-Membership to the Institute for Occupational Safety & Health (IOSH) (Or working towards)

-Qualification in Biosafety

Contract: Temporary 18 months with possibility for extension or permanent offer.

Salary: Band 8A

Hours: 37.5 per week
