Java Developer
Harvey Nash are looking for a Java Developer to provide hands-on technical leadership, in the development, operation and ongoing improvement of complex services to our client. You will ensure that high level analysis and design work for new initiatives is carried out in order to enable estimation of resource requirements, and determine feasibility.
Key Responsibilities.
Be a champion of Test Driven Development (TDD) and writing clean code. Responsible for the creation and implementation of the end to end technical design and ensuring alignment to the strategic technical architecture. Work with delivery teams and partners to break technical requirements down into appropriate packages. Advise on, technically lead and implement delivery projects. Provide mentorship for software developers and junior software developers. Assist with building a culture of continuous delivery and improvement.. Sharing knowledge of tools and techniques with the wider team, both developers and non-developers. To work closely with security teams to ensure that security risks are fully identified and appropriate mitigation's are delivered. Taking part in 2nd-line support of the application and platform, including occasional support outside of office hours. Identify issues within complex problems, clarify stakeholder technical understanding and expectations. Encourage a culture of innovation focused on adding value. Maintain effective performance in difficult and challenging circumstances, encouraging others to do the same. Maintain strong working relationships with other Lead Developers and Architecture Team to ensure consistency and coherence across projects and practices. Establish and drive intra and inter team discussions to learn from experience and adapt organisational processes and plans
Knowledge, Skills and Experience.
Be a hands on developer who can work with the team. Experience organising and performing prototyping and proof of concepts. Experience with Agile methodologies (TDD, Kanban, XP). Experience in trunk based development (continuous integration) and continuous delivery. Experience using and deploying on Cloud based platforms, eg AWS. Experience in DevOps - this team support their own infrastructure code. Knowledge of relational and non-relational database systems. Must be approachable, on hand as a source of knowledge for technical design decisions the development team require input into. Must be a problem solver.
