Mobile Access Design/Planning Engineer

A Mobile Access design/Planning Engineer with a proven design and Planning experience on Mobile Access (Fixed Network) network/s (2G, 3G, 4G & preferred 5G).

To work within a large team to produce plans across the following function:

• Mobile Access (Fixed network)
• To produce network designs to support Mobile Access 2G, 3G, 4G & 5G Platforms
• To produce detailed plans and Databuild plans to support Mobile Access 2G, 3G, 4G & 5G Platforms
• Liaise with other network domains such as Voice Coice, Transport, Project Management Office & Network Data build.
• Fixed Network delivery support & communication during planned works.
• Logical approach to problem solving
• To produce detailed plans to support New Services.
• Support Testbed Design work needed for new platforms.
• Provide input in Statistical Tools such as Mycom to build any new reports and ownership of updating key KPI's for the network.
• Design and Planning will primarily be for;
• New RNC's
• New BSC's
• RNC, BSC, LAC, RAC and TAC boundary planning
• RNC and BSC moves and expansions
• RNC/BSC re-parenting to alternative core elements.
• Cell site/Node B re-parenting to alternative RNC/BSC nodes
• Detailed connectivity plans to link RNC's and BSC's to associated network equipment
• 5G New Radio (NR)

Essential knowledge/skills:

• Proven design and Planning experience on Mobile Access (Fixed Network) network/s (2G, 3G, 4G & preferred 5G)
• Excellent working knowledge of Mobile Access (Fixed Network) Ericsson, NSN and/or Huawei network/s
• Working knowledge of Mobile Access (Fixed Network) capacity management (RNC, BSC, and associated routes)
• Working knowledge of Signalling systems and planning with TDM signalling and SIGTRA
• 3G & 4G single cell reparents
• Rebalance RNC's/sites reparents
• MapInfo Professional: Magmap boundary Planning aswell as & MagPerformance
• LAC,RAC,URA & TAC dimensioning and planning
• Mis-parent site planning
• RNC design & parameter Planning
• Hardware capacity, dimensioning & kit upgrades planning
• 5G New Radio (NR) design/planning
• Good understanding of IP Networks
• Capability on Performance platforms such as Proptima (MYCOM) to allow reports to be built and maintained
• Use of Remedy ticketing Tool
• Ability to work as part of a team
• Ability to perform job functions to standards under pressure of tense/confrontational situations
• Ability to remain calm and courteous with demanding/difficult customers and/or situations
• Ability to provide concise and clear, written and verbal reports
• Ability to work independently
• Fluent communication in English

Essential experience:

• 10+ years minimum experience of working in the Telecoms industry.
• Experience of producing and delivering Detailed Mobile Access (Fixed Network) Plans.
• At least 6+ years of proven experience of 2G, 3G and 4G RAN planning on BSCs and RNC's products.
• Strong technical background in Mobile Radio Networks and the paging requirements (including LAC,RAC,TAC & URA).
• Knowledge with Remedy or PrOptima would be an advantage.
• Understanding of network, IP, Core Network, Network Management and Transmission principles.
• Proven ability to interact with diverse customers in a multi-cultural environment.

Essential qualification(s):

• BSc/MSc degree in Engineering/Telecoms or Computer Science.
• CCNA/CCNP Certified or Equivalent or LAN, WAN, Data networks.
• Project Management - MS Projects/PMP?? (Project Management Professional)/PRINCE2.
• Prince Foundation level exposure.
• Experience with MS Office and Sharepoint.
• Fluent English spoken and written.
