Development Lead

The Role
This role is a Team Leadership/Development role in the Digital Office, reporting to the Head of Digital Market Platforms.
The role is accountable for the definition and application of software development practices to support the delivery of digital channels offerings to the Market and the public as part of the transformation of Lloyds described in
Key Responsibilities
Line management, coaching and mentoring of a team of multi-skilled developers, including senior and junior grades, matrixed across agile delivery teams
Define and establish best practice for software development within the Digital office
Working across Agile teams to provide technical guidance in the delivery of digital products and services
Plan and align delivery team resource profiles to product-specific requirements
Support and help drive the adoption of test-driven and behaviour-driven development frameworks, along with continuous delivery and automation testing
Ensure the quality of code is met through the use of unit, integration and acceptance testing and perform appropriate tuning/refactoring to ensure the system performs to its specification
Collaborate with the DevOps team in line with project/product goals and objectives.
Conduct and promote the use of peer reviews to provide feedback to developers within the team Identify improvement areas in the delivery process and make recommendations
Skills
Knowledge and understanding of the full software development lifecycle
Comfortable with ambiguity, lack of detail and can develop concepts
A to E mentality; able to run with a problem and arrive at robust conclusion
Detail-oriented, curious and inquisitive
Knowledge
Cloud-first applications (e.g. Google, AWS)
Distributed architecture (e.g. micro-services using containers and serverless functions)
Integration using REST/XML based interfaces using API gateways (e.g. Apigee)
Non-relational databases (e.g. Mongo)
CI/CD pipelines and associated tooling (e.g. Jenkins, Sonar, Nexus)
Rules engine and workflow frameworks (e.g. Flowable)
In-depth practical experience JVM landscape (Java)
Experience
Experience of working within cross-functional Agile teams
Line management across matrixed Agile teams
Experience of a variety of Agile delivery frameworks e.g. Scrum, Kanban, DSDM
