LRL are currently recruiting enthusiastic and passionate individuals to provide support and guidance to offenders based across the Birmingham area. This an excellent opportunity for those interested in networking, gaining valuable experience and establishing themselves in a new career. These positions are temporary for three months, with those candidates assessed as being suited, potential to make this permanent employment. Relief work options are also available.

As a Residential Officer, successful candidates will be located in their nearest area, as much as is possible, but may be required to travel between several sites within their designated locality, with travel being paid in such circumstances. Your goal will be to engage with offenders within an Approved Premise to provide security, reassurance, and support to aid in the rehabilitation and rally a positive attitude to prevent re-offending.

Main duties will involve providing security to the Approved Premises (Ministry of Justice) for the likes of offenders on recall or breach of conditions of licence/court orders. You will be responsible for the monitoring of behaviour, carrying out room checks, build inspections, induction of new residents, undertaking D&A tests, maintain discipline, supervise, and arrange activities for residents and generally ensure the overall care of residents on site. This position is currently night work (8:00pm-8:00am), for up to 48 hours per week and may also involve covering duties at other Approved Premises at times to staff absence.

The ideal candidate will hold a valid S.I.A licence, have a background of working with or around offenders and have their own transport, but other candidates with similar experience and skills will be considered.

As a character, we are looking for individuals who can deal with soft and hard situations, this will mean being comfortable within potentially threatening situations and be able to deescalate these situations with understanding and empathy. Our clients' end goal is to work with residents on site to provide a safe and secure unit for rehabilitation
